Mix 97.3 Shreveport

Without seeing the "real" numbers for KQHN it's hard to tell what's really going on, but the latest 12+ ratings don't look good. Fact is, Mix is the lowest-rated FM station in the market, coming in behind AM's KWKH and KOKA. What's the real problem here? Has Mix never recovered from their lengthy absence?

THAT'S A BIG PART OF IT.......WORD ALSO THRU THE CUMULUS SHREVEPORT GRAPEVINE THAT THE PD WAS LET GO TUESDAY....WE'LL SEE WHICH DIRECTION THEY GO.

What a confusing station, though! How do you start with a VERY pop-centric morning show (Kidd Kraddick) and end your day with John Tesh?

Whew. What an about-face each day.

I went to Shreveport the other day and listened. As a radio person to me it sounds like a poppy Hot A/C station. women 18 to 50, the cool mom. As a person driving in my car with my girl friends...it was on and we knew every song. We listened until we couldn't hear it any more. As a girl i think they are right on target. John Tesh had intresting things to say that kept us tuned in--why would we change if we are intrested? I had gone to the horse races in Shreveport, KRMD was there - They all looked like they wanted to be some where else.

Wow, that really is a "Mix"! Hot AC is a hard format for a small market, especially when there is a well-established CHR/Pop station in the market. I think Cumulus should either take this station in a Soft AC/Standards direction or even try Smooth Jazz. Shreveport/Bossier is an older market. I think a format that caters to those older demos would work a lot better.
