Mix 97.7

A few minor changes over at 97.7 FM. Now they're calling themselves Mix 97.7 and the slogan is back to "The Hudson Valley's Best Music Mix". They're still doing 50 minute music hours and Suzy Garcia is still on. I don't know about the others though. Some new imaging and a new jingle package. Basically the same music though.

None of which will really help them overall.

What I find interesting is that the new PD has yet to put his name or face on the website (which by the way has no creativity to it whatsoever...nice white background). I still think he's a hit and run who will clean house and move on to his next Cumulus job. Time will only tell.

The website does not look good now. Personally, I liked Mix 97 when Randy Turner was there (before the station started falling apart). I think Mix's days are over and should start fresh. And for God's sake, get rid of Miller!

Too bad Randy Turner is out. Having interviewed with,
and been offered work from him, he seemed like a genuinely
decent guy who worked his tail off to satisfy the suits on high.
Of course, we all learn that's a futile proposition in the long run...<P ID="signature">______________

The Jingles sound very Good, but they need to change the music. This is the real problem. They have to get going in some kind of direction with the music. Does anybody really know why Randy Turner was let go? To fix the station they need a cohost for Bob Miller for starters. Suzy Shines No Matter What they do to that station. Joe Limardi sounds good, but he's unknown in the market, and he sounds like he doesn't know the market as well. They still have so much work to do. Changing the name again to 97.7 may not help, becuase it will give the 'old familiars' like hud and lite the advantage (this book anyway).

*** Couldn't agree with you more.

Does anybody really know why Randy Turner was let go?

*** Because someone had to pay for the Christmas disaster that Atlanta and Chuck forced down his throat.

To fix the station they need a cohost for Bob Miller for starters.

*** It can't happen soon enough.

Suzy Shines No Matter What they do to that station.

*** The Silver Lining to a very dark cloud.

Joe Limardi sounds good, but he's unknown in the market, and he sounds like he doesn't know the market as well.

*** He's probably living out of a suitcase and won't bother to even learn the difference between the Mid-Hudson Bridge and the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge.

They still have so much work to do. Changing the name again to 97.7 may not help, becuase it will give the 'old familiars' like hud and lite the advantage (this book anyway).

*** I think we are hearing the last few gasps of air before it flatlines completely. Anyone know CPR?

"Oldies 97" once again - that was truly a great station at one time just like WCBS-FM was for so many years in New York City.

Try it again ... it can't hurt anymore than whatever it is that they're doing now.

Not a bad idea, but it probably won't happen. There is a hole in the southern Hudson Valley for oldies and 97.3 would best fill that void, especially since Mix fell apart.
