Mix Shake-up

LOL - yes, perhaps I am too old ... although I really don't care for the Dove or Warm either; however, I find the new morning show's "schtick" to be distasteful. They did read some emails from listeners this morning and it appears that their listeners are in high school. I hope the target market's audience has enough $$$$ to keep the show's advertisers in business ... and if not, I hope their parents do! Plus, their high schoolers are all in school by 7:30 am and really aren't listening beyond that point - so why even have the last hour and a half - IMH and OLD Opinion.

I get the feeling that anyone under 35 to you is a teenager. I heard the same emails. They were from girls in college and a mom. Their demos are huge in the 18-34 and 18-49 and 25-54. I heard them collecting socks for our soldiers and I hear them talk about things that came ans went in this decade. Didn't hear anything distasteful. Are you MJ? Ha

At least Mix is trying to fix things. Cox stations just stay new for 10 years. Last year it looked like Q105 retooled into the tank and now they have the best PPM showing of all CBS stations here, so who knows.

Look Radioman, I am allowed to have an opinion. I don't attack you for yours ... please do not attack and insult me for mine. No, I am not MJ - I am not a man. I'm just a former Mix listener who thinks that this new format is better suited for somebody else. And judging by the fact that Dan D's and other Mix management's mailboxes are so full that a caller can't leave a message - I am obviously not alone. Have a nice day ... and leave me alone. Thank you.

BabyStringer..I was having fun with you. Relax. But if you know anything about radio and I know you do, the old" I don't like it and lots of others don't either" argument rarely holds weight. With any format flip or morning show flip, there is cume rinse. If the old show (anywhere) was working, if there were SOOOO many listeners, than a station wouldn't usually make a change. Heck, if the Pittsburgh Pirates moved, there would be lots of fans upset..but they still have empty seats and no tv ratings and no revenue.

If you feel I attacked you personally I apologize...I was debating your comments. Only time will tell how this show will do, but I think they are off to a good start.

I guess "tone" doesn't translate well on message boards - thank you for not really attacking me. LOL

Look - I know that the old morning show wasn't working - but this new one is the complete antithesis of what was there. I'm just wondering if perhaps something in the middle of what was and what is may have been a better choice.

Funny you should mention the Pirates ... I grew up in Pittsburgh and am heading there for the holidays. Lived there 25 years and only went to two Pirates games ... I just can't commit to nine innings in one place!

On that note, I grew up in Pittsburgh with Fun Lovin' KQV. Still go back to visit family. Comment: I don't know why Shriner is even on that show. He barely talks. If I was doing Mix, I'd put Shiner on from 9PM to 1AM after Kristi and Tesh from 1AM to 6AM. Still haven't heard Elvis yet. As for the Pirates, they need a lot of line-up changes like bring back Maz as a young man. Pittsburgh has Star 100.7 . They are a Hot AC with music similiar to MIX. I think they sound better, but then they are CBS and Tesh in on an Adult Standards AM station where he is a perfect fit in my opinion.

Forgot. Pittsburgh has Star100.7 They are Hot AC like MIX, but owned by CBS and I think that makes a difference,.

Looks from their website they have someone doing overnights now- but it's not the Shriner.

Looks like Mike Baker is overnights. Whoever or wherever he is, at least they are trying to have personality radio.

Let me get this straight. Tampa Bay has 3 or even 4 stations with someone live overnight . That would be QYK, MIX, MNF, and possibly WUSF. Really shock me and tell me Cox has someone live overnights here too and I'll wash your car.

Put me down as being wildly in support of the changes at Mix. Elvis Duran is what a morning show should be. I liked Nancy in the morning occasionally, but her whole "Mix chicks" thing made me feel unwelcome since I'm not a chick. I'm just a guy who enjoys hot adult contemporary.
