Mix weekenders

Mix seems to consistently find weekenders that are just as good if not better than what I hear full time in Boston at some stations.Strangely I can't recall any of the names other than Tad Bonvie and Joe Cortese. These are also the only two that get any space on the website, obviously because they're well known.Does anyone know what the current weekend roster at Mix is and where they came from? They sound pretty experienced so I assume they are full timers at other nearby markets.

The Mix Weekenders are GREAT! Love them all!

Dilini Fernando is amazing....she also part times at Coast 93.3

Blake Hayes came to Mix from KC101 down in CT where he started when he was 16...now 20 Blake is at Mix and sounds awesome!

Jessica has been at Mix for awhile...she used to be heard on WXLO and KISS before Mix

Steve York has also been at Mix for quite awhile...and fits in perfectly with the station

Alicia Love is the talented sister of Mix's Fast Freddy and also comes to Mix from Star

Mike Vining can be heard doing overnights and weekends(Alicia can also be heard in overnights)...he's new to the game but is getting better each time he's on

andthere are a few other newbies that i haven't gotten a chance to hear but i'm sure they are great, since the rest of the airstaff is!

Thanks. It occurred to me after my post that I've heard a Greg Curtis also who sounds good.Apparently with this many part-timers they're not all on every weekend but staffing does seem to be Mix's strong point.I don't know who they're competing with as a hot ac but I would almost guess it's KISS where staffing has gone downhill but I don't know if staff is ever going to win Mix any battles unfortunately with Magic winning the ac battle and KISS resting on heritage regardless of who's on the air and Mix stuck in the middle.

I agree that some of the Mix part-timers sound great, but what's with the downing on KISS? I think their airstaff is VERY solid. Not as many in quantity, but just as good quality (some even better).

I've noticed that while their vocal presence is good, a few of the weekenders listed at Mix sound kind of forced and fake. Kind of stiff, not as loose and natural as a Greg Daniels or Tad Bonvie. Even though they might be saying what they want, it sometimes sounds like they're reading.

Over at KISS, I realize this board has been nothing but venomous toward them, but then again, I've noticed from "presets" questions and what-not that their demo isn't on this board. As a radio fan (and a fan of CHR radio), I really enjoy the personalities on KISS. I haven't heard anything that has jumped out as "bad." And on the contrary think they're a GREAT (mostly safe) CHR.

I agree totally about the MIx jocks, they rock. Kiss 108 is ok, wish more kiss jocks. You also forgot stella mars on mix who used to be weekends on star 93.7.

I haven't seen anything venomous towards KISS unless you're speaking of that person who posted a few months ago about hearing the station and commenting that the staff wouldn't have been hired to wash the van not too many years ago. That was harsh but it's well known that KISS has downgraded and done what many heritage stations have done:phased out the old established people and taken on people who they can pay less resulting in destruction of the heritage. You'll find negative attitude towards any stations like that since it results in market jumps that would not have been possible a few years ago.Mix doesn't have the kind of reputation KISS has nor do they or will they ever have the listenership.Numbers make you successful but not better.

Now I do agree KISS's demo isn't on this board but frankly a good number of posters here are more enamoured by rimshot stations no one listens to than actual Boston metro stations.

Next question:how long will Matty stay at KISS?Has anyone else courted him?Like many CHRs he doesn't go with the rest of the station or the music considering the state of CHR.He operates separately regardless of the format but what I'm citing is probably going on in his mind too when it comes to the quality of the station he's working for.As long as he pulls in the big bucks it probably doesn't matter and I think he's too successful for the station to let him go but wonder if he will eventually shop around and leave KISS to the kids.

I agree with all of the above for the most part. I don't listen to Mix enough to know their names, but they are on point. I think Jackson Blue is the best Jock KISS has.
Also, The Weekend and overnight Jocks at FNX have been above par as of late.

YES i totally forgot Greg Curtis...one of my favorites how could I forget him...he's also the producer over at Dale Dorman's show at Oldies. And I thought I did add in Stella and Nate and Steve to the end of my post but I possibly didn't...but yes...those three are also on air..they are the three newest additions.

I totally agree that Jackson Blue is Kiss' most solid jock(also an ex-Mix weekender) And I enjoy Romeo for the most part, sometimes he gets a bit annoying, but for the most part he's keeps me listening to him.
