Mixing the old with the new

The Michael Savage show keeps me wondering now and then. Yesterday, as heard on WRVA 1140AM he was talking current events. Then for one segment in the second hour, and without any special introduction or explanation why, he says "Now I've got on the line with me the Rev. Jerry Falwell..." Then we hear a discussion with the Reverend about how Jesus was sent by God the Father to save us all from original sin, and the only way to get to Heaven is through Him.
Rev. Falwell died a couple of years ago. After this was over, we go back to talk of today, with no mention of the Falwell interview or if there was a reason to re-air it. Strange and kinda spooky too, in a way. Makes one wonder how often old stuff is used without us knowing. He might get away with it with re-runs of segments on his favorite food, or something that happened on a trip, or anything that is evergreen. Why re-play an interview with someone who has passed? And, if you're going to do it, why not play fair with the listeners and tell them you're going to do it, and why?

I don't know. It seemed to be integrated into the show normally. It ran for a full segment, beginning and ending like any regular segment, with none of the tell-tale signs of a lost satellite feed or anything.
