Mix's Numbers

Mix's numbers appear to have been much better than they have been. I'm wondering how much the addition of Karen Blake, at least temporarily, has helped. I don't think it's a coincidence that Karen starts and Mix's number get better.

She is a great talent! It doesn't hurt that there is a good crop of music out there. And now with the focus on the 90's that made the station great doesn't hurt either.

I'd give a lot of credit to Steve Salhany who's been PD at the station since JayBeau left. Sal has created a ratings and revenue powerhouse with TIC, and I see him implementing a lot of the same programming moves at Mix.

I also personally think that the station is connecting with the audience like it never has before. That's very important too!

I heard Karen on Mix and thought she was a very good fit. Listening to her over the years I have always thought she was talented too and very funny. One thing I must say I really noticed was how she handled what happened after the marathon I heard people calling and thought she was right-on with the things she was saying. Since we're talking about Mix, I am also liking the morning show more too.

Valid point. All the jabbering about how radio needs live bodies seems to rely on the notion that if it's live, it's better. Fact is, other than doing some lame morning show bit out of the local paper, putting guys from Scranton or Oklahoma City on the air adds little you don't get for a lot less fro a national voice-tracker can offer. Miss Blake's performance on the marathon suggests there is no substitute for talent that is truly from and of the community the station serves.

I'm not sure which is dumber, managers who think voice tracking is a good thing or announcers who thinklive humans with no connection to the community is better than voice tracking. And no, connection to the community doesn't mean entering the Rotary duck race or making pathetic public appearances. .

The problem with broadcasting is broadcasters.

If you enjoy these three, you're probably not listening to Mix because we don't play two of them. Kesha, MAYBE one time a week and Biber, never. We're more along the lines of Fun, Pink, Mumford, Phillip Phillips, Bruno Mars, Kelly Clarkson, Maroon 5. At least that's what I hear, I don't schedule or check music logs.

Boston needs a station that plays mostly rhythmic music withOUT the hard rap.
I thought WBQT would be that station but if you play crap like Drake and/or those jerks who do that piece of doo doo called "Thrift Shop"

And I suppose WAAF could play either Country Music or Adult Contemporary as well. Now they could, but why?

MIX 104.1 does play (some)Rhythmic Music, they could play more New Urban AC, maybe a few songs, two-five wouldn't hurt

You realize, Macklemore is "rapping" about shopping at a thrift shop. I hardly call that hardcore rap. lol

I'd say increase the playlist with less repetition, but otherwise leave the station alone.

There is nothing wrong with Mix... I enjoy the station and have for a long while... It would be nice if Karen Blake was added for a regular full time gig.
Wonderful DJ. I do like Erin she seems heartfelt and a great talent as well, but it would be nice if she did weekends... And Karen stayed weekly. And Rhythmic is nice... But the format MIX airs is HOT AC and i think it does just fine.
