MLB Playoffs

I was wondering why it was during the baseball playoffs that 860 had to join a lot of the games in progress ? MISU have 2 AM and 1 FM station and they could move stuff around to make it work ? I f it would of been later at nite I would of just picked up 680 from San Fransico. If they want us to stay away from sat radio this is not one way to do it . Also why is a NAU football game on 1 AM and 1 FM channel today ( 94.1 / 1440 ) ?

It's on 1440 because the Lumberjacks know the transmitter is in the ....

KMVP has Cards committments that take precidence over ESPN programming. That'll probably continue next season when sports moves to 620.

Also, I didn't see the schedule, but KTAR AM & FM (and they will be 100% locked together until January) might have had a Suns game on during some of the WS games, but they wouldn't have moved Cards Kool-Aid-drinkers fan-show programming there anyway.

Technically, KRDE 94.1 is a Globe station that doesn't serve the Valley, although they're audible in parts of the metro. KAZG is located in the Scottsdale lumberyard and does serve the metro, however badly. Did the game end early enough so that KAZG could run the entire game without having to shut down at sunset?

The McRepublic radio listing had a 2:00pm start time, and October sign-off/
power down is 6:00, so very likely.

I do remember a few years ago when the big 1440 carried Nebraska football,
there were a few occasions where the game spilled past the magic monthly
time and they dutifully powered down to 52 watts for the balance of the
broadcast--which is something that KDUS has forgotten to do on occasion,
not to mention the illegal (undocumented to McRepublic, of course) late-night
power ups to 50 gallons by the headbangers at KFNX.

Let's crunch those numbers one more time: 1) Sports Parking Lot 6~twenty, 2) Sports Siberia 8~sixty, 3) News 92~three, where Hip Hop used to live, and 4) KPKX, where K~Lite used to live. That be four stations owned by The Men In Secret Underwear.

But perhaps you're confused by TMISU's own web site which shows only 3 stations in Phoenix:
Phoenix, Arizona:

KMVP 860 AM
KPKX 98.7 FM
KTAR 620 AM

Don't believe the Nurse and me? Check it out for yourselves at www.bonnint.com ???

With 620 and 92.3 joined at the hip for the rest of the year and 620 & 860 joined for at least the first part of 2007, for all intents and purposes they have 3 stations (on 4 frequencies) to play with for the time being.

When I stated 3 I was meaning ones they openly use for sports. Now I know years ago they had to put suns game on 98.7 on rare occasions , but I don't beleive lately that has been an issue for them.

Re: NAU On KAZG (Was: MLB Playoffs)

Today's (Saturday November 4) NAU game has a 3:05pm
start time, and power-down this month for the big 1440
is 5:30.

Those of you who want to hear the finish had better drive
real close to the lumberyard. ;D

KRDE is streaming, so all 6 NAU fans in the west valley can partake of the broadcast at their computers.

Hans, where'ya been? I imagine your good buddy Akbar
feared you were lost at sea and was he about to call
the Coast Guard in Pt. Hueneme to put out an APB! ;D

The SWAT team has left, the blood scrubbed from the cul de sac, and life returns to normal. Had to spend 2 hours sprawled prone on the floor while the madness ensued. Damn Oxnard Police were pointing at the suspect, but that put Barrio Malibu right in the crosshairs.

What's next? Giant hairy bats?

Re: NAU On KAZG (Was: MLB Playoffs)

I was expecting they'd cut back to 52 watts, but at 5:26
the big 1440 just pulled the plug, with the game still going.
Not even a sign-off announcement (but then previous
postings indicate this is the norm).

I think their lamp timer has drifted some, or maybe the
lumberyard needs the transmitter's AC outlet to plug in
their nighttime outside lights. ;)

Maybe the band saw makes the voltage dip, slowing the clock.
