MM, The Fan, ESPN

Another week, another disaster for the FAN. MM still rocks. ESPN as far as so called sports radio is still the brand. Week by week, numbers on FAN getting worse! MAN STATION PART DUEX! And what about BOB!

Hard to believe, other than 10-2 with Stan and Guy, I listen to The Fan. And sometimes, when I'm like 10 miles out of the Pgh area and can't get S & G, I switch over to The Fan.

Who's doing the ratings?

Obviously someone who hates the Fan is just making them up. They need new judges.

(Real answer: The ratings are done by electronic meters that actually measure listening by a test population. Yoi and double yoi.)

What about BOB? What about the Q?

Why does Q 92.9 continue to flounder in the ratings? It's almost a mirror image of WISH, yet even with its makeover a while back they just can't seem to make it work.

And what about that weird press release about how they were now HOT A/C a few months back? The format did not even change.

The Q seems to have multiple personalities (maybe that's their target audience). Sometimes they sound like the 90's version of Lite FM... and a couple of weeks ago the scan tuner stopped there and they were playing Orianthi's "According To You".

Not at all surprised about the nice book for Bob. On a rapidly changing FM dial it is one
of a diminishing number of places where one can go to actually hear music and not be
pinned-down into a narrow vertical as defined by some consultant.

Which could very well be the reason why Q does so poorly. The imaging, production, etc. all sound like some consultant's view of what an a/c should sound like. Kind of like an outdated how-to textbook.

I hear 1250 just started running a promo with Stan and Guy saying they are bringing back their
"@!# $%& (rhymes with Gag Cough) of the Week Award". Throughout the promo they were
bleeping "gag cough", and made reference to the fact that "we can't say it".

When they did this schtick before they very clearly and openly referred to it as the "(gag cough) of the Week Award". Is the change due to the FCC and ongoing fallout from the Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction, or more internal fallout at the Mouse over the incident with Double-M?

I don't know- but I do know Madden made a comment on the air recently critical of ESPN 1250 for not allowing the word that rhymes with "Gag Cough" on the air.

Talk about political incorrectness. Earlier this week on "The Dennis Miller Show" - you might remember hearing it when it was on the old "93.7 The Zone" for four minutes - Dennis uttered a variation of the above word - rhymes with "gag Cass" - and yet it was edited out over the air.
