Finally a pleasant surprise and breath of fresh air...Happy ST P day, even if he was Italian....

Sorry wrong date, it's Tuesday 3-18-08, notice more classic-classic tracks on board.

"more classic-classic"???

we already have 'MGK!

Go Hillary!!!

what the hell... arte they TRYING to make YSP #1?!

it just better not be as bad as ZZO... ZZO blows, WAY to much old rock... and its the same 20 songs with maybe, 5 -10 currents.

if MMR becomes like ZZO, theyre done for. there is so much new rock that ZZO wont touch, that YSP and MMR have... also IN the lehigh valley, The Bone has these tracks.

if MMR really is bringing more classic rock in, they better not lower the amount of modern rock they play. MMR already has enough classic rock, they dont need more of it.

i would just hate to see MMR become a ZZO, everyone see what im saying?

They have been playing newer tracks lately and seemed to have been leaning away from the classic rock over-kill that they are capable of doing. We will see what tomorrow brings, if anything at all!

I am hearing more Dead, Floyd, Zep, Who, Aero, Van and many other overplayed Classic Rock acts, the Dead should not be played at all IMHO, and I have been hearing less Newer cuts, some of the so-called newer tracks are a copy of 1045, with Third Eye Blind and Matchbox songs that MMR would never touch until the birth of RFF...

A poster on the Kidd Chris Underbelly board had this to say this morning

My girlfriend just told me that MMR has a "Major Station Announcement" tomorrow morning...
I doubt they'd be talking about STP coming since it's a YSP event...

So MMR is going more classic? Then what the hell is MGK's purpose?
???
The Wonderful World of Radio.

i think the major announcement has to do with the 40 year birthday of the station and format. note, Preston, Steve, & Pierre will be making it.

If WMMR is in fact playing more classic rock, that is an incredibly moronic move. While I am well aware that sister station WMGK is leaning more Classic Hits these days, I firmly believe that it should be the place where all of these old-time acts are played. There are some that contend that WYSP is not modern leaning enough, and that they cannot tell the difference between them and MMR. While it would be a risky move on MMR's part given their heritage, they could have beaten YSP to the punch by going more modern and thereby reaping the rewards. There's a huge amount of potential out there, WRFF is too soft for many (with their All American Rejects, 3 Doors Down and latter-day Goo Goo Dolls), and YSP is largely doing the same thing as them, only slightly edgier. These stations are sitting on a gold mine, and the time to act is now. I live in Ocean County, and sometimes I'm in need of a harder rock fix that none of the stations on the dial can provide, and I think there's plenty of others that feel the same way.

Considering Ocean County isn't quite WMMR, WYSP, WMGK, and WRFF's real target, you're SOL.

Bingo. I signed up for their mailing list a while ago and got an email recently about this.
.......
Found it.The following is directly from the email:

"Heads up on a Major Station Announcement - Tuesday 3/18 at 10:30am (Pssst - it's about our 40th Anniversary.)"

soulcrusher, i know what you mean. at this point in time, YSP is kicking MMR's ass. and as for classic rock, i live in bucks county, but i listen to 105.7 instead of 102.9, and im sure im not the only one.

why not? you get the stations CRYSTAL clear there?

ocean county listener of mmr since 1974.....yes, signal is crystal clear and most days clear through northern monmouth.

So, the "major" announcement had to do with their 40th, and nothing to do with a format "tweak". Imagine that. As much as MMR gets crapped on (myself included from time to time), they have survived 40 years without a major format switch. That is quite an accomplishment!
