"MO" now on WDJQ

just read in the trades that "MO" is now on donny boy's Q........well if old donny ever wanted to risk his license, his happy home and his inheritance...this is the guy who will do it........

without a good pd to reign him in i see problems on the horizon....he is judt too dangerous.......

then he has to be ready to fire him immediately....unless MO has matured ( and i doubt it) he is an accident waiting to happen..........

i am deadly serious......if donny isn't careful this guy can take him down......

and it's too bad cause there is some raw talent there....

Has he caused FCC indecency fines in the past?

I agree with Radiomayor. This guy is a ticking timebomb.
After reading this board. I tuned in last evening during a listener call-in request hour.
He continually talked down to the listeners. I listened until he literally screamed at one female caller and told her that is not how you get a request played on his show. He told her to never call again and just ripped her a new one because she said she was friends with the morning guy and would tell him if he did not play the song.I really felt sorry for the caller and thankfully he hung up on her.
I'm sure this is his "Schtick" to be edgy but in your first week on a station you are offending your audience?
I read in one of the trades that he signed a long term deal to be with this station.
I'll bet if his PD does not reel him in he won't make it 6 months.
Very poor radio. I will not listen again.

his problems will surface...they always do.....and since donny boy is so much a part of the community....his friends and his families friends from mount union college will be on donny like a heart attack to boot him.........

i could illustrate some of them here but the editor would probably censor what i write.....

suffice to say...."edgy" is kind......the most gentle description i would agree with....

I agree Mo is a ticking time bomb when he goes on his little on air rants, its only a matter of time before he goes to far. Last night I was tuning in to hear the 11:00 give a way. They had a set of concert tickets, wrestling tickets, and DVD of Little People Big World. Mo was trashing on little people, he was calling them "Kiebler Elfs", Midgets, and so on. How can Jon Stew, take the risk of this guy. Come on isn't calling a little person a Kiebler Elf racism?? Its only a matter of time. I enjoy Q92 and I am not surprised on how well their numbers are going, but damn Mo is a liability that could cost it all.

I'm streaming Q right now and I might have to agree with y'all.

He played a request for "The Dope Show" by Marilyn Manson and played another song by Marilyn Manson ("The Beautiful People") since a listener complained about him playing Marilyn Manson on Q92.

despite Q's reach....they are an ALLIANCE station...and Alliance is a small town.....Mo won't survive long...

a few client cancellations....complaints about his behavior at bar remotes....or other appearences....(AND THEY WILL COME).....and he will be gone......

in case you haven't noticed his market ranikings have gone DOWN.....not up as he would have hoped his carrer would have taken him.........

he's a great reason for listeners of that station to turn on the ipod while he is on.........

Mo is a pro. I assume most of the posters on here are as well. He knows where the line is and not to cross it. He has J. Stew's support (obviously) and he has mine as well. He did a great job for the station for the past five months on Saturday and Sunday night and I look forward to his performance and the increased listenership five nights a week. Remember, the same thing was said about DeLuca over two years ago.

You know, the station has put up with a ton of negative chatter over the years on this message board. The “station is for sale” , “has been sold” ,“children of the corn”, “alphabet soup Z to Q” comments have been pretty humorous to read from the outside looking in. Especially being at the station and seeing the transformation. Now, I don’t post here very oftenl, but my staff knows where they stand with me and I know where I am with them. The bottom line is this, ratings and revenue go a long way in quieting the critics. I’m just glad everyone on he is listening to Mo. My feeling is, you aren’t alone.

Just so I know, while we were giving away the laundry list of stuff, what were the other stations in the market giving away? What were their callers saying? While we were playing Marilyn Manson, what were their listeners requesting? That is why we are winning….

Don,

Our points weren't about doing request shows and giving away prizes, that's great you do them. Listeners like interaction. Perhaps, the point was whether or not Mo knows the line...because if he doesn't (I'm assuming he knows the line since he got the gig in the first place) it can cost the station the license, or at least a hefty FCC indecency fine. A couple of years ago, there was a contest being run that offended advocates for the disabled, which could have slapped an FCC fine. I'm also familiar with the poor reputation in the past that WDJQ (then WZKL) had on Radio-Info. I worked with John in the past and he is indeed a very talented PD. You're right, ratings and revenue are more important than what critics say on a radio message board, and if you're satisfied by the expectations, that's all what matters.

well, I do believe this is my first time actually on this board. I love the fact that everyone here is discussing little old me. Also thanks for the kind words Donnie. Now, honestly I don't feel as if I need to defend myself here at all. My track record speaks for itself. I have been about number one everywhere I have ever been, Nashville, Oklahoma city, Youngstown, yada yada. Now, my question is, in my 8 years in full time radio, when have I ever even had an FCC complaint? I have been fired only one time, and so was my PD, because he gave me permission to air the bit that got me fired. I have also been offered quite a few jobs in the past few months, but declined because, A. I am kinda sick of corporate radio B. I love being close to home C. because I am working for a guy like John who, believe it or not, gets it. I would say he has made some good choices, wouldn't you. I mean the station dominates right? Listen to the air staff, we have about the best staff in NE ohio. Cleveland included, and we all are having a great time. In 6 months of working here, I have not been repremanded once. Not at all. And I know I have already helped bring revenue to the station. A license risk, really, hahaha. Hmmmmm. Me, Mo!! So I am worse that O and A, Howard, Mancow, Bubba, Tom Leykis, the Regular guys, Bob and Tom! They never lost a station a license, but me, I might. You guys are great. I don't honestly care who you are, or what you think. There is no one who has posted about me, that could ever beat me. None of you. I know it and you know it. Continue to be the robots behind the mike, not doing anything interesting, so you can eventually be VT'd for. Oh and by the way, I didn't know that Midget was a race?????? Classic!!!!

You Said:

I don't honestly care who you are, or what you think

I say:

BS Alert!!!!!

If that were true, why come on here and defend yourself?
By even posting, it shows you DO care what these posters think, and it apparently DID get under your skin enough to take the time to write the post and cite your past success.

Best of luck in your new gig and Happy Arb's!

All that matters to me, is winning. That's all. I think it is great that you people are so obsessed with thinking you know everything, that you will put your reputation on the line. I am honestly laughing over here, doing a great radio show. You should listen, take notes, my phones lines are blowing up with people who want to talk about my topics. I am just asking a simple question, when have I ever had an FCC complaint. People are soooo concerned, what is the basis for your concern?

Good luck, Mo. Haven't heard ya so I kind of assumed by the posts.....but people like to stir ---- on here. Don't burn bridges, especially in radio, because you could end up working for them later in life. JStew is a very talented PD.

Why don't you ask your Howard Stern knock off morning guy. I am sure he tapes the Stern show regularly to steal bits and claim they are his own. Come on how about showing some respect to those who can not help they have a disability.

I will give you the probs that you deserve yes you are very talented at what you do, and you put on a interesting show. However when you have a ego the size of Texas and "us" radio people will the first to point it out.

Thanks for showing up on the boards. You compare yourself to Bubba, Howard, O&A but I have some news for ya Mo you will never be at their level. Last time I checked they were pulling in millions while you might sell a spot or two for small town Ohio. Thats what helps them keep their jobs when they cross the lines.

You may need to head back to school and take a comprehension course, I did not compare myself to those talents, I simply said, how is it they have not lost a station a license, but I am a huge liabilty?? And what does revenue to the station have to do with a license being lost?? Also, There is not one person who has ever worked with me that would accuse me of having an ego. I truly enjoy getting a rise out of people who claim to know everything, when in fact, they know nothing. And that is how I feel about most of the people on this board talking about me!! You don't know anything about me, yet you write as if you do. I know I have never worked for, or with any of you. I do assume however, that I have beaten most of you. I do also know that I am working in Canton, so honestly what room do I have to talk! Keep in mind though, that I have worked in some big markets, and brought hundreds of thousands dollars in advertising to the station. Anyone who knows me knows I am a networking machine.
