What an odd decision at KSCF to bring in Mike O'Brian to join mornings. Personally, I think O'Brian has made a career out of being a huge phony. That's why it doesn't matter what format he's on. How he stayed on payroll at CC for as long as he did is anybodys guess. I guess KMSX, XHCR and KUSS weren't complete failures but they weren't exactly successful either. Good to see a radio vet get back on the air, but I can think of 100 more genuine people I'd like to see back on the air first. I wonder if he will adopt the sophie lifestyle with the same commitment that the dove into country haha. Does anybody think this is move that will improve that station?

Dan the Guy must have it out for Mike, becuase he registered with the sole purpose of making a personal attack against someone.
Check his post history, he has none. I wonder what station "Dan" works for (Star?).

Very sad.
 
It's probably someone from Jeff and Jer or Scott and BR who just lost a potential employer. ;D

I'd include DSC but they'd never agree to Sophie. :p
 
Sorry I'm new here I didn't realize you guys are so sensitive. I think hes a phony, not the devil. Even from an outsiders perspective is it not worth discussing the fact that the head honcho country PD is riding backseat now on Sophie? If I'm off base in my opinions, defend him. This is local radio, not the US Congress, lets not get our panties in a bunch because I think someones a phony. I guess nobody here cares about what Sophie or O'Brian are doing and thats fine too.

I'm not defending anyone. I'm just commenting on how there are so many out of work personalities and so few stations to go to. With all the rumors of J&J going to Sophie or Sophie being an in for those who got laid off, this must come as a blow to many people.

I respect your opinion. The problem is you need to back up your statement of why you think he's a phony. The fact that he was a PD and now is not means nothing in radio. It happens often. That does not persuade me to your point. In what way is he phony? You use a broad statment to criticize someone. The fact that you are an "outsider" hurts your point, because you do not know what work he does behind the scenes. What one hears on the air is not enough to know the amount of pre-production, post production and planning that has to be done before every shift. It's not fair to call someone you do not know and have never met "a phony" in a public forum without any basis.
