Did a HOT 104 jock quit, on the air, yesterday? I'd heard something about it, just wanted to see if anybody in the market heard it..

In other news, I'm starting a pool on how long before HOT 104 becomes 104.1 The Wolf..

Guesses, anyone? I'm saying September 1st.
______________

The Wolf? Come on! Everyone is trying to copy The Wolf in Dallas! Dallas (and Texas for that matter) is it's own world when it comes to country music.

I agree. September 1st.
Edited by HasHSlaYer on 07/26/05 09:08 PM.

Or, more like their sister country station in Nashville, also called "The Wolf."

But, the point is still the same.

The WOLF in Nashville is coming along nicely.
Don't know if it is like the Dallas WOLF though.

Assuming that any "wolf" outlet is country, the LAST thing Mobile needs is another country outlet. Gosh, what is there....like 4 that throw a city grade signal into Mobile? Hot's problem has been a lack of any strong signal in the wake of Ivan until recently. By the time they got back to full power, ABB had a firm hold of the market in Mobile, and Z96 and ABB took over in Pensacola. I'm figuring that 104.1 may be just one of those cursed frequencies that nothing ever truly blossoms on (Call it the Rock 104 WGCX curse)

Crazy format ideas to quickly get shot down:

Variety Hits: If Cumulus went this way, they'd have to jettison oldies on 106.5 and give it something new.

News/Talk or Sports: If these stations bill well on AM, pony up the stones to see how one does on a 100,000 watt FM. Go news and they can probably partner with WKRG somehow, and make 'em pay.

Active Rock/Alternative: Probably not the money here in this format there once was.

Any other crazy notions?
______________

Take a bite out of Power 88's numbers and do Hot AC-style CCM. WBHY-F isn't putting up as gaudy numbers like WPOZ in Orlando, but they're still pretty good!
______________
