Mobile Pensacola Stations on HD

I noticed that WDLT 98.3 and WYCL 107.3 have cut the processing way down and sound more transparent. They actually sound great. I have not listened to any stations in HD. Question: Do the HS stations sound transparent and clean. Mobile and Pensacola stations crank up the processing so much, it is a loudness war. I hope this doesn't follow on HD. If it does what is the purpose of HD in the market...Comments

I think what helps here is that WDLT can't target Pensacola and WYCL can't target Mobile-their analog signals just aren't quite big enough to realistically cover the whole market, so they've wisely concentrated on quality instead of quantity.

WYCL has a construction permit to downgrade to a C0, 50 kW from a tower halfway between Mobile and P'cola. Looks like they'll put a better signal over Mobile with this - maybe they are running from this facility now and decided to do a little tweaking?
