MOBILE VOICEOVER BOOTH!

The Problem:
When working from the road, recording voiceovers becomes extremely difficult due to environment issues like room noise, sound reflection from untreated walls, etc. The need for a portable voiceover booth is critical, so that high quality voiceover recording can continue while traveling.

The Solution?

Check out the "Stone-Booth In A Bag"!

Steve..that it VERY COOL..I ended up having to buy a 21 foot motorhome in order to get a decent sound on the road. That box is awesome. I had thought of making something like that, but it didn't seem like I could get it to collapse enough to be functional yet portable. How much is that dude?

And can you post a link to a voicve track recorded in a "bad" room using it? We're curious..and thanks for posting that.

Jeff,

I recently used it for a week in NYC. My hotel was in Times Square so noise was 24/7!
Here's a link to an edited sampler of a few sessions I voiced there.

In fact a network tv client that received files from me while working on the road never new it until I told her.

The booth is designed to be less than half of what a normal booth would be in size and price.
When I designed it, I debated whether to construct it myself. But then I realized if I was going to do it right,
I wanted it to be pro manufactured.

The company GKAcoustics is great! Great work, customer service and they named it after me! That's nice!

I've had many other voiceover people buy it in the last few weeks...at least 6-7 full time working vo people.
It's also a great alternative if you have limited space in your home studio.

Thanks,

I think you'll be pleased with the product. Let me know if you get one!

the mic I use in my studio and on the road is the Sennheiser MKH-416 shotgun.

It's a really forgiving mic when it comes to room noise and it's got great punch for a mid-range voice like mine.

Yup..We are selling off our remaning U47..bought MKH416's for all studios..Totally consistant, and VERY moldable with a solid pre-amp and graphic EQ if at all. Seems like it has a built in compressor..mic sounds naturally compressed..don't really need any processing short of a little EQ to sweeten the room, and a GOOD tube preamp (M-610)
