Moby In The Morning

Former WKHX/Atlanta morning-man Moby is now doing a syndicated morning show from a studio in Roswell. He's on 3 AMs in North Georgia, an FM in Dublin, and WEKS-FM 92.5 in Griffin. The show apparently does very well on these stations and Moby still has tons of name recognition throughout Georgia. If I had a country station in Athens, Rome, Carrollton, Macon, Augusta, etc., I'd want Moby on it. How about it guys?

James, I do not think using this board to promote your show is proper

I'm not Mr. Carney. Just trying to help a friend spread the word about his show. God knows some of these small country stations need a real morning show. It's working in Griffin!

And there's certainly stations in some of the markets you mentioned that could use the help.

Moby has been on in Athens...they had him on WNGC for about a week sometime last year. I hear it went over like a lead balloon. So thanks, but no thanks, Moby...

Well, it's not like the audience in the mornings could get much lower, they don't have a lot to lose as far I can tell.

Same for Rockwood, TN...no thanks Moby!

Yeah please guys, lets keep the board to name calling and mud slinging only. We have to set rules somewhere.

He was indeed on WNGC doing a one-week fill-in, not his syndicated show. I hear the syndicated show will be on WNGC soon.

In Rockwood/Crossville, TN, the station that had Moby on had respectable numbers with him, despite a tiny signal. Without him, the numbers have plunged. Go figure.

WEKS-FM in Griffin has done extremely well with Moby. Ratings are up and revenue is up. The owner there (Chuck Tarkenton) couldn't be happier. And now that he's gotten a power increase to 25kw, WEKS will be more of a factor in the south metro, where lots of country fans live.

You may not personally like Moby's "down home" style, but listeners love him. He has a unbelievable fan base that spreads far beyond Atlanta.

Oh really...and where do you get this information? It just so happens that after the regular cast returned, 'NGC was flooded with calls and emails welcoming them BACK.

I was just talking to some chicken fryin' folk in Griffin two days ago. They had "The Bear 92.5" on the PA for the first time ever.( I have to stop at the chicken shop on EVERY Griffin vist)I asked why they were playing the Bear and guess what they said......Mr. Moby!!
It ain't no secret that WKHX (Atlanta ABC/CapCities country outlet)is worried sick about 92.5 and Moby. ClarkKent probably knows the ABC attorneys were calling NGC with cease orders when he did that week(which no one listened to....yeah, right!)
I can't believe more stations don't carry Moby!!!

Sorry, my mistake. I meant to say "he'll soon be on a station in the Athens area."

Your other point is unimpressive. I'm sure if Saddam Hussein returned to power in Iraq, there would be people welcoming him back too. (Bad example, but you get the point).

I'm replying to my own reply...

I just heard that WNGC's morning show, the same one that had so many people welcoming them back, has been cut loose. Hmmmmm...

I'm not here to impress you. And yes, it was a bad example. As for the "station in the Athens area"...hmm, maybe Z-88?

That's probably a bit overdue anyway, regardless of where Mr. Moby is *G*

Moby is from Crossville and the owner there couldn't wait to put him on the air. But when the ratings came back and their midday girl with absolutely no radio experience out pulled Moby, then Moby moved the show from Crossville back to Atlanta and lost touch with whats important in real small towns, he couldn't get rid of him fast enough. Moby needs back on a big stick in Atlanta,Athens or Macon, I don't think anyone outside of Georgia really cares much for him.

I saw the Arbitron numbers. It was just the opposite. The station had good numbers with Moby, miserable numbers without.

> I don't think anyone outside of Georgia really cares much for him.

He was on in 40 markets via ABC syndication, as far away as Michigan. Those people still love and miss him.
