Moby joining WNGC-FM in Athens

Moby, who has been building a modest five-station syndication show the past year on mostly small stations in Georgia and Tennessee since he finished his odd traffic stint at Z93, has snagged his biggest get yet: WNGC-FM, the country station in Athens. He starts there July 25.

Good move for Moby. Anytime you can get your show on what is maybe the strongest FM signal between Atlanta, Augusta, and Greenville/Spartanburg in WNGC, it's always a boost.

Website touts a "new morning show coming soon". Great get for Moby.

I'd still like to know what happened that led to the show's cancellation from "South 105.7" in Tennessee. I would listen to the show on the Internet via 105.7, and then one morning, without warning, a different and local show...

Who knows, maybe Sirius is in Moby's future, as well...
______________

Wait until they see his ego and how hard he is too get along with. They'll fire him too.

I would be proud to work with him. He's a very good radio talent and knows how to relate to his audience. He is not like the cookie cutter kiss ass talent that makes it nowadays, and I enjoyed listening to him when he was on Kicks. He, Deborah and Jim were great, and I miss them. I've worked with difficult people, but have always gotten along with them because they knew I was glad to work with talented people. Once they understand that you "get it", they are usually tolerable.

The owner thought he could do better with a local show. Ratings with Moby and ratings without Moby tell the tale. Just because it's local doesn't make it better.

What happened to the morning show that was on WNGC?

Moby.....didn't a lion eat him?
______________

The main guy, Tim Ciccarelli, left for personal reasons. Scott Howard, his side-kick, is still there. He is doing sports on the morning show now, and will be doing sports for Moby. Right now, Shana Vaughn and Scott Smith are doing the morning show.

The lion didn't eat me, (on a corporate level, it wasn't even the biggest animal to try) but it found out that fat boys taste nothing like chicken, nor do we run like one.
I'm excited about the brand new morning show on WNGC. VERY EXCITED!!! YEAH BABY, Peaches!! (That's one for your drinking game.)
WNGC is a very powerful, and well-programmed station. Time will tell that they've made a good decision. (and they certainly have.) I'm grateful & humbled by this move they've made.
It's going to be great to, in some small way, reassemble the "Moby in the Morning Radio Family"!!
I've always been very aware that some folks loved me very deeply, and some hated me very much. Very few were ambivalent...perfect!!!
7/25 brings my network to a total of 7 stations, with more joining in August.
An independent syndicator has challenges I never dreamed of, but after a year in these murky waters, owners/managers/program directors seem to be buying into the fact that we're here to stay.
I chose not to move, and once again leave my home & uproot my family.
That would have been the easy answer to my "after KICKS" life. What I'm doing was much more challenging, yet much more fullfilling.
I'm so happy to be back in many of the ears that missed me, and I'm committed to making new family members every time I walk into my little studio.
I've missed you folks.
Yeah baby,

Yep, just as I said on the Georgia board on June 22... "Moby will be on WNGC soon."

Is it the same Scott Howard that does play-by-play for UGA basketball?

Yes, the same Scott Howard that does UGA Men's Basketball and UGA Football play-by-play.

Hi Moby. We've never met, but my wife hasn't listened to morning radio since you left Kicks, and what I do listen to stinks. She made me a regular listener several years ago, and I grew to admire you and your show. I've been on the air here since the 70's at one place or another, and there's never been another show I wished I could have worked on other than yours. You are what is missing in radio now - talent you can relate to - personalities that make you part of a family. Above all, the respect for the medium that allows for a very personal connection between the station and the listener. If I can't pick up WNGC, I hope they stream your show. I hope my wife and I can shake your hand one day and say thanks in person.

Try listening on 92.5 "The Bear" if you are on the southside of town. If you can't get 92.5 now. then try in a few months.....station will be 25,000 watts soon!
