Moby Network Names New PD

I just saw this on the allaboutcountry.com website:

Moby Network Names Three
To Take Over For The Late Dene Hallam
The Moby Network is finally ready to move forward, since the passing of their friend and colleague, Program Director Dene Hallam.

Moby has named Ken Moultrie as Consultant. Jay Noble takes on the double-role of VP/Affiliate Sales and Program Director. And handling music is Sandy Weaver.

Of his newly aligned staff, Moby says, “I’m so pleased that we’ve been able to fill the void that Dene left. No one can replace him in our hearts. He was one of a kind and we’ll always miss him”.

------
I saw Moby the other night at the Willie Nelson concert. He continues to bring up about how he's still surviving after being dumped by Kicks. I guess it's hard to move on. I kind of felt bad for South 107. Instead of promoting his affiliation with them, he had to bring up his past employer. Move on, Moby.

From what I understand, Sandy Weaver actually started her role as music director a few weeks ago; plus, I think she also does an airshift on Moby's radio network, as well...

I guess it's a testament to Dene Hallam that it took three people to replace him! Had it not been for these hires, perhaps it would have been possible for Maddox to actually join the show full-time as co-host (he told a caller that the station she's joining in Rome has "more money")...

Wow, he's on 11 stations and not one of them near a major market. Chris Krok is at least in Macon and Denny Shaffer can be heard in the parking lot of the Collanade Restaurant. Oh, there's a even a link to Moby's myspace page on the website. Way to be ahead of the curve.

It most certainly is, Choice the 2nd. ;)

He also worked at "97 Rock" in Houston.

To be fair, Moby does have his own profile on Facebook, but I'm not sure if his producer is running it. Of course, these days, the way to go on Facebook is to get a "fan page" so you can "become a fan" of Moby in the Morning.

That's supposing Moby's fans own computers. Considering the markets where his show airs, they are lucky to have indoor plumbing.

Moby does have a couple of stations near a major market,WNGC in Athens and South 107. When he was on the Bear in Griffin he talked about how the police chief in Peachtree City listened to him every morning.

Well, here's some news: As of this morning, Sandy is the producer and on-air sidekick of the Moby show. Moby said on the air that his previous producer, Ron, has been going through some health issues and even mentioned on today's show that he visited Ron in a hospital this past weekend. Thoughts and prayers to Ron. He's been out for a couple of weeks or so. Last week, an intern with dreadlocks has produced the Moby show.

Wow. Bashing the guy because he's only syndicated in small markets? How many of you are on in just one small market? Or ever cracked a mic or scheduled a music log? Or been a PD in a small market that's lucky to have indoor plumbing?

I realize the main purpose of this board is to bash others so you can feel better about yourself but this is just a stupid attack.

You have to appreciate a guy who didn't take his firing well so did something about it.

I would have started a new thread, even given the Ron angle, but I thought I'd simply bump this one with the update.

agreed. it only looks (sounds) easy to those on the outside looking in...

I hate to see Ron have heath problems,he is really a nice guy,I talked to him at Country Fair a few times. Sandy is good choice but I would have liked to have Moby get back together with Jim Van,they were original shake and bake.

As their engineer, some of you act like South107 doesn't get out of Floyd county.

I can only assume that your radios receive as well as my stock stereo system but from downtown Atlanta northward, South107 has a Very strong signal. Maybe I have one of those magical receivers but I can hear it to about 20 or more miles south of Atlanta on I-75. With a transmitter site that's around 40 miles North of the city, the coverage is pretty darn good from downtown Atlanta northward.

When South107 gets the facility upgrade completed to a class C1, 100,000 watts, the coverage will only improve. (3db increase) I realize and have received emails to the effect over the years that the current C2 50,000w coverage area is better than normal for that class of station.

From a technical standpoint it's a nice plant with a geat signal for 50,000 watts and it will be interesting to see what the 100,000 watt coverage area looks like in reality. Stay tunned......

BTW: We do have indoor plumbing and I'm sure our listeners do as well! lol Thanks for the read.....

@RhubarbFan: Jim Vann has taken turns subbing for Moby in the past on vacation days, though it appears the jock of which you are a "fan" of (Rhubarb Jones) is the primary fill-in when Moby's away.

FYI: Moby remarked today that while still hospitalized, Ron is feeling better.

I agree. With an economy and an industry that is struggling so badly, it takes more effort, but it definitely needs more encouragement than criticism. I'm happy for Moby to be able to start a syndicated network. Good for him.

Another tried and true. For some odd reason, South 107 is considered an Atlanta station on this board, then it's nowhere near an Atlanta station on the very same board. Rome, Athens, Macon and Columbus are pretty much Atlanta rimshots, IMO.

Do the DJ,yes Jim Vann has filled in for Moby, but I would like for them to be in the studio at the same time, and with school getting out for the summer,I'am sure Rhubarb will fill in when Moby takes some vacation time. Moby said this morning that Ron had lost allot of weight.

... and he also said that Ron was discharged from the hospital as of this week. Thoughts and prayers...

@Floyd: It was not too long ago that WTSH started ID-ing legally as "Rockmart/Atlanta," therefore "abandoning" Rome. But I suppose this would be the place to discuss Atlanta rimshots, nonetheless. ::)
