WZNE- Rochester is Alternative/Active Rock... probably on the selling block after buying & selling in the Rochester Market.

I THINK WSSR went ka-put (I'm too lazy to double check)

Same with WVRV in St. Louis.

The rest are still around in some form I believe.

Christina and Shakira both broke into the Top 20 on Hot AC. I added them to my station here in Kansas to some pretty good reviews... even though it's all rock around here.

I'll help fill the gaps on some of them:

WALC Charleston SC (Flipped to Classic Hits as 100.5 The Drive several years ago)

WPLT Detroit (Is now Hot AC WDVD, after spending some time as a All-80's outlet)

WKSI Greensboro NC (Became a "Jack Clone" 98.7 Simon (WSMV) over a year ago. They did relaunch as a Modern AC back in 2001 under a different handle, but failed)

WKZL Greensboro NC (Flipped to CHR in 1999)

WXPT Minneapolis (Is now 104.1 Jack FM)

WPTE Norfolk Va (Evolved to Hot AC)

KFMB San Diego (Is now Jack FM)

KLLC San Francisco (Now Hot AC)

WSSR Tampa (Is now 95.7 The Beat with a Urban format)

WXLO Worcester, MA (Now Hot AC)

I would be surprised if there are any Modern AC's left. I do know that KQKQ/Omaha is a Modern Rock leaning CHR, but don't know if they would match the critera.

WTMX Chicago

They overall still sounds like Modern AC, but have twaeked their playlist after Nine FM went on the air in 2004. Their sub-channel on the digital side plays all 80's. I forgot to mention that WTMX has no competition on a city grade signal for Hot/Modern AC. Even Jack FM hasn't hurt their ratings like Jack FM has in other markets.

WSSR Tampa

These call letters are now on a Nextmedia owned station in the Chicago suburb of Joliet Illinois, on 96.7.

WQSH was a Modern A/C in Louisville.... it's now WTFX active rock...

WQSH was awesome... ::)

Yes, WTMX is still around, but they are more Adult CHR leaning these days. Still, they will play some "Modern AC" titles long before other stations would consider adding them, like 'Colorful' by Rocco Deluca and 'New Shoes' by Paolo Nutini. But they also now play Beyonce and Justin Timberlake along side them, artists they most certainly would not have played in 1999. Their ratings, while not as strong as during the peak of the Lilith Fair days, have remained fairly strong since then, with the Mix usually ranking amongst the top 10 or 12 stations in the Chicago market.

I could be wrong, but I think WBNS-FM(As "The New 97.1)/Columbus, OH. was a Modern AC when it first launched and flipped from Oldies on July 11, 2001...They didn't play much gold, mainly at the time just newer music. They're now more of an Adult CHR-leaning Hot AC...they play Beyonce, Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, P!NK, Justin Timberlake, Blue October, The Fray, Daughtry, and Gnarls Barkley alongside 80s and 90s gold.
