Modern Rock on WMJI?

I was going to sleep while listening to the radio. I happened to flip on WMJI and heard modern rock music. So I came to Radio-Info to see if there was a format change, but I'm now assuming it was just an anomaly. A check on Yes.com indicated "Snakecharmer" by Rage Against the Machine was played at 1:42am. Doesn't seem to fit the format, oldies or Christmas music.

How did this happen? Did the computer screw up? Or is WMJI really going to shake things up following Christmas?

ADDED NOTE: As of 2:04am, WMJI.com is unavailable...
Edited by collegeDJ86 on 12/24/05 07:03 AM.

Sounds like someone either at WMJI or WMMS had a song on the wrong number in their Prophet system!

Checked www.wmji.com at 9:05am. All is well.

One of two things could've happened:

#1, Wrong cart number was in Selector. Selector pulls the song cart from Prophet.

Or #2, Most likely the wrong song, a xmas song, was incorrect in Prophet and never fixed. Selector number could've been right, but the wrong song was on that number.

Modern rock doesn't make any money. CC wouldn't flip the #1 billing station (16 million in 2004, 90% of which is attributable to Lanigan & Malone (and Chip), to a format that bills as much as WKNR.

As much as I'd love to see a modern rock format on WMJI.....well, I've got as much chance as getting that for Christmas as I do a brand new GTO in my driveway. On a related note I was treated to a 90 second music bed on Mix this morning, so I guess its just one of those days over at world domination headquarters.
______________

It was actually "Down Rodeo" by Rage.

Episodes like these are what happens when nobody is driving. I wonder what else could slip in? This would never happen if there was an actual body in the control room, heaven forbid.

Yes, no way on modern rock.

But of note, insiders say that some recent firings in sales and management had to do with Cear Channel Clevelaned missing their 2005 sales targets by a big gap. I don't know if Lanigan and Malone count for 90% of WMJI's billing (!!!) but they certainly are responsible for the lion's share, especially the last few years when MJI lost their dominance in other time periods and weekends (they owned the whole book, as I recall, right up to about 2000). Then Skippy came in and tried to make the station into WDOK resulting in MJI's worst numbers in ten years. Non-mornings never fully recovered in most cases. I still heard Amy Grant and Kenny G.'s Christmas songs in rotation this year. Yuck!

Bring back The Scotster playing Christmas music by James Brown and Bob Seger!
Edited by HHH on 12/27/05 02:20 PM.
