Modesto 104.5 !

I find it curious that a NEW fm seemingly from Modesto at 104.5 is'nt listed anywhere! And most notably on the FCC site. Heard is a Spanish / Mexican format. It almost sounds like a relay of an internet stream. The ID's are not very clear. "KEM" ! Do we have a BOLD pirate in our mists?
Does anyone out there know?

Thanks

Was Wondering that myself.. That's ALL we need is another friggin Low Power Spanish Station.. There's 106.1 out of Salida..

This one I find especially annoying because it keeps me from DXing KFOG

I am curious how many Spanish Radio Stations does Modesto/Stockton have now? I haven't been in Modesto in about 10 years.I still think it is funny that Modesto would get another radio station so close to each other (KHKK-104.1 and KHTN-104.7, though the latter is from Merced, it is marketed to Modesto also.).

Yep.. KHTN is marketed as The 209's home for Hip Hop.. AND over the past two years has gone right after KWIN for the Modesto Market in CHR/Rhytmatic..

As far as spanish stations go, there is definitely some over saturation.. The city has lost it's classic country station and it's rock station all to Espanol music..

Sorry to dig this up from the past, however, I have new info.

Found out that this was indeed a pirate. Our bain, Nelson GOmez was running this station with a lot of power and a directional antenna from the top of Fowler Peak, near Angels Camp. Also, he was running another on 106.7 from this same location. Yes, Nelson has a license for a translator in Arnold on 106.7, but this was NOT it!

Talked to an engineer in the market about this recently who had previously been very tight-lipped about it. Got it from the horse's mouth, so to speak. He showed me pictures and audio. Wow, how blatant is THAT??!!

Nelson GOmez was already famous for moving and boosting power of KBYN and KCFA with illegal directional antennas pointed at Stockton and Sacramento, respectively. Saw pictures of those too. Wow.

And this guy still has a license? Has he been at least fined?

Tobedawg, your quote was so dripping with irony, it was hilarious!

Doesn't "Salida" mean "exit" in Spanish?!!?

:D
