I was driving in the hail storm that lasted about 3 minutes yeaterday.I qwas listening to Moe Lauzier on WPRO when Citadel got hit with a jolt of some kind.WPRO,WEAN and WPRV all lost audio for a brief minute of the stations these stations I quikly scanned too to see if they were all off.
Sure enough they were.Moe comes comes back on with a couple of quick gliches and then no cut outs of audio.
He then goes into a story about working at a Fall River station when a pole was hit and he had to fill 4 hours of him just talking to himself to fill the time.
While Moe was telling his story Paul Giamarco(spelling ) is cutting into his conversation to see if the computers in the studio he was in were working. They weren't. So Moe rambles on for about ten minutes until the computer and I assume phones come back to life.
Now I am listening to this and I started thinking. If there were no bodies in the building then how would the computers get back on line if there were actuall emergency broadcasts to be made. The EAS did go off a few times this afternoon but I am sure someone was rebooting computers to keep the station on the air.
By the way, I think Paul is doing a remarkable job at WPRO and Moe did do a good job filling the air waves with something considering he only had which appeared to be only a microphone and nothing else for a few minutes.
Very Professional !
