MOJO to All Sports

Very shocked to hear that news. I may have to listen to that station if no station in Dayton switches to CBS Sports Radio

yep..I don't see this Sports format lasting long unless they get a local show or pick up the rights to a local sports team.

Would've made more sense for 94.1 to pick the Sports up, considering they're a Cumulus station and this new network is a joint-venture between CBS and Cumulus. That and the country format isn't really doing much for ratings.

In terms of local sports, Ohio State seems logical. But I'd look at picking up University of Cincinnati football / basketball. Seems they get thrown around the dial between WLW, WEBN (if the Reds are playing on WLW), or KISS 107 (if the Bengals are on WLW/WEBN/WCKY).

None of the major sports teams will go on 100.3. That.signal is not good enough. The BUZZ is running Miami, so they could move that over. OSU is possible, depending on what happens with WDJO. They have to have some local, or it's pointless. What could this mean for Piecoro and Wildman? Where's Wayne "Box" Miller?

why would you flip to all christmas if your going to flip to sports

why not just fill up time with fox sports radio in the interim ?

Christmas music typically gets huge listenership, and they'll hear all the inevitable promos for the sports format in between Sleigh Bells and Do They Know It's Christmas. WXOS in St. Louis did the same thing 4 years ago, switching from MOViN (Whatever happened to that anyway? These boards used to be chock full of MOViN shills.) to Christmas to sports, and they're the top-rated sports station in the market.

IIRC, the full-time launch of CBS Sports Radio happens on January 2nd.

I should add that the St. Louis station has a local lineup during the day, I don't think sports on 100.3 will go very far unless they have local programming too. A local morning sports show would be a great move, since we haven't had one in the market since the great Purge of 2009.

So they stole a station from Connersville, Indiana - lowered the power, moved it to Norwood, and now this is what it ends up airing! Thank God I'm retired...

Andy Furman did a local sports morning show on 1160 AM, from Graeters' downtown, for the first six months of 2011, I believe. And then he and Eric Deters, who had been doing evenings, switched shifts. The reasoning was that it's much easier to line up guests, and get phone calls from listeners in the afternoon / evening, than it was for a 7am show.

With more sports radio.. Does that mean maybe 1360 WSAI or 1530 WCKY might be flipping to a music format?

No. Clear Channel isn't going to let a competitor take Fox Sports or ESPN Radio away from them.

Fox Sports is on 1360AM. Clear Channel isn't going to give that up to a competitor, even if it only gets half a ratings point.

Smart timing by WMOJ flipping to Christmas music, as December ratings period starts Thursday 11/8 and runs through 12/5. Then the holiday rating book is 12/6-January 2nd, the day of the switch to sports.
