Mom and pop rule York Ratings!

Once again Mom and Pop stations rule the York market. Do local people know more about the area? Congrats to WHVR! A 1.8 for a 5000 watt AM pretty good.

I'm not sure it's a case of local people knowing the area more. Both WGTY and WYCR do a better job of marketing their product ala billboards and cash giveaways than the corporate folks these days. And with few exceptions, these stations have been 1-2 in York for how many years now? I'd be willing to bet they have a much better "street presence" than some of the "corporate bean counter" stations. Actually, a station that does a strong job on the streets these days is 101 the Rose. Not locally owned but family owned.

Yes..Congrats to WHVR. A 1.8 signals that perhaps there is a "country gold" position available to someone willing to do it on FM.

Thanks for the kind comments about WHVR.
The country gold element is only a part of the overall product at WHVR.
The hours we present Southern Gospel, Bluegrass and and other niche
oriented programming attracts some of the best listenership on the station.
The local elements including high school sports ,Yard sale and local news
also help.
Appreciate the comments.
