A bit of interesting FM E-Skip DX Monday evening here in the Hudson Valley, with a few new logs. Michigan became my first state to be received both by skip and tropo, and interestingly the skip, my closest ever, was shorter than my more distant tropos from Michigan. Also I logged my 6th and 7th most distant skip stations this evening.

I was just sitting on 88.5, when suddenly some skip showed up at 6:22pm. The 88.5 station was uniD, sounded like a college new/alternative rock with lots of DJ talk about the music…. but no ID!! Also unID on 89.3 playing “I Want You Back” by Jackson Five… faded out at end of record, naturally. No idea who would be playing this in non-commercial band.

WCMU-89.5 Mount Pleasant, MI had to be the one with Michigan news and sports 6:32pm, with public radio sounding announcer. Good signal until overtaken by an unID religious-sounding station talking about adopting from Ethiopia. At 567 miles, WCMU is my shortest skip ever. Michigan #13, first on E-skip.

Skip seemed to die out around 6:45, but then it came back just as I was about to turn off the radio.

UnID - 89.9 Heard brief mention of Milwaukee concert series, at 7pm but didn’t even hear enough to determine if it was indeed a WI station.

KSWN-93.9 McCook, NE, clear ID into ESPN programming at 7:01pm. 1389 miles.

CKFL-94.7 Brandon, MB. “Star FM”, going into “Hot 6 at 6” at 7:03pm. 1378 miles.

KQDS-94.9 Duluth, MN “KQ-95” with long spot break with local ads with Duluth phone numbers, 7:12pm, and into a Van Halen song. 964 miles.

UnID-96.5 “Mix 96.5 All hits, all the time” playing “96 Tears”, maybe WMT-IA, heard for the first time last month.

Skip faded away by 7:25pm. Summer Solstace tomorrow... could be another good DX day.
