MONDAY'S (1-21) BACK IN THE DAY BUFFET ON JAMN' 94.5

Did anyone else catch the Back In The Day Buffet on Jamn' yesterday (Monday)?

The mixes by Gee Spin sounded great (as usual), but Suzy Tavarez REPEATEDLY kept wishing everyone a "Happy Friday". ::)

It's obvious to everyone (well, almost everyone I guess) that the middays on Kiss and Jamn' are voicetracked, however couldn't the person putting the logs together at least double check to make sure that the correct files were in the right places?

I would expect this on a small market, or second-tier market station, however on a station such as Jamn'... :-[

Or is this nitpicking? ???

This is not nit-picking at all. Part of the argument for VT-ing is that the average listener can't tell the difference. Well, if they're gonna F*** up this badly, even just about the dumbest listener, if paying the slightest bit of attention, can tell it's not live at all and just how fake it all is.

The problem is that, on the one hand, I really don't think they even care since the Jam'n/Kiss combo essentially has NO direct competition whatsoever in the Boston market (on terrestrial radio). NONE!! The problem is how short-sighted that way of thinking is, because there is a plethora of other media that they are competing with, especially being stations that target younger demos.

I've worked, although not in radio, for very large companies like Clear Channel. Even at large penny-pinching companies that I've worked for, HEADS WOULD ROLL if such serious mistakes were made. But Clear Channel's business is selling ads, not providing quality entertainment ::) ::) ::) ::)

The average listener doesn't say "she's voicetracked." When you hear that, you think voicetracked...when the listener hears it, they think she is just screwing up!?! I bet less than 1% of the people who heard said "she must have recorded this Friday."

I do agree, though, not cool to run those tracks.

Too bad this is just another example of what you can (and don't) do when you have no competition and a monopoly on a format.

On the other hand, you're right, Gee Spin is definitely a great mix dj.
