Mondo & Dean on Pugs today!

Dean & Mondo were on from 10:30 - 11:00. Aparently, Dean was fired right after the show on Friday and Mondo was out sick so they let him go over the phone (CBS = class). They will be hosting a free event tonight at the Addison Improv starting at 5:00.

They said that they will be in Addison Improv with some behind-the-scenes stories. Pugs said that he will record some of their stories and play them on air tomorrow. They better have some juicy stuff.

Just heard the podcast on Pugs & Co. and they had some interesting things to say about their former employer. Apparantly Bigby was not a fan of Dean and had planned to let him go around Christmas. I guess they'll get into more details about that tonight as well as Pugs departure from 105.3.

I watched the 35 minute long vid and it just sounds like a bunch of complaining and sour grapes because they were fired.

What good did promoting it on Pugs show do? The laptop being used to record it, paned the audience at the start and it looked like only 9 people were there.

Wow, this is sad. They are talking to fewer people than are in my living room. Yet, they are telling their story like it is a major event. What egos. And hey, great drawing power from that Pugs show on 1190. If you are thinking about advertising on 1190, here is a sample of the kind of crowds that will be filling up your business.

Hmmm two talentless hacks that got fired went on an AM stations show hosted by a former FM talk show host. To whine about being fired then held an event to make themselves feel specail and I would assume designed to show 105.3 what kind of mistake they made by firing them. You kow ill get all these people to show up and show support. Of course NO ONE SHOWED UP! I have to laugh.

This was a nice post.

Mondo and Dean were really classy when it comes to CBS.

Sounds like they are a bit afraid to comment.

I am new to this board so I will refrain from being too harsh but they were pros in this video.

They were "pros" when it came to things they actually saw...They ripped Russ, not so pro. I worked with Russ for 4 years and he was always cordial. Yeah, 99.9% of the stuff was fake...But it's radio, it's theater of the mind. Something Jagger and co. don't understand, you have to act, play it up. No one ripped Fibber McGee and Molly for their bits and shows.

Jaggers big bit - "Can Jimmy do it?" Now that's great radio (sarcasm).

Besides, after the Jagger show ended at 10am they all bolted (5 hours before Russ arrived), so how would they know what he was like? I never saw them when I was there at 3pm.

Pugs & Kelly were different. After their show, Pugs would take off as fast as possible so he could go to whatever bar his "friends" were at, and get hammered (evident of his multiple DUI's). Kelley would stick around with (sexy) Sybil and chat in their office...And Russ had Kelly on multiple times (to usually talk about her cans)...If pugs was there, rather than drinking himself stupid, maybe he would have been on once or twice. Doubt it though, Pugs held a grudge. He assumed (and was right) that management cared more about Russ than him.

For starters, Russ had ratings.

2nd, he wasn't forced on the station...If you remember, the ONLY reason Pugs & Kelly were even on in Dallas was because of the law suit they filed in Chicago vs CBS. Part of their out of court settlement was that they could pick a market and have a timeslot. http://rogersroom.250x.com/texta/

Was Russ the easiest person to work for? Hell no. He demanded perfection, just like anyone who produces a good program. Does pugs demand perfection? Maybe, but if you listen(ed) to his show now, on the other AM station or on the Bone, it was weak. It lacked in a lot of areas and it's because Pugs & Kelly were friends to their producers, not bosses. You have to be a boss first and a friend later (if at all)...

Wow, what a shocker! This somehow turns into another Russ thread..

You are right about one thing...Rus wasn't a friend to many people and Russ HAD ratings.

I worked for CBS Radio and 105.3 for over 6 years. Jagger/PNK and Russ were very different shows. Russ was 99% fake. Jagger and PNK didn't do bits. Now Jagger did stunts with Jimmy and games...but hardly "bits". Also you did not have to be in the building to understand the headache that Russ brought. You could not say a word during his show while in the hall, Could never speak to Gavin or ask a programming question of him during that time. These are the things that made that station uncomfortable at times.

Russ didn't demand perfection....he expected it. That is a big difference. I worked alongside Pugs and Kelly for many years. They did not demand anything. Yes they were friends with all of us. But they knew what we were capable of and knew what we brought each and every day. They knew how to help us because they too were once producers and knew how to treat people.

Umm...didn't demand anything and knew how to treat people? You're fooling yourself. P and K couldn't/wouldn't even plug in their own headphones.

James Burleson aka Cody,

Weren't you part of a bit once? Your windshield being broken? So to say that he was hard to work with is kinda funny when you jumped for joy when they asked you to be their little monkey for a minute.

And by working for them for 4 years, do you mean you filled in when Eric wasn't there (after you were their intern).

You also played a part in their mr. puniverse bits.. A life long part-time board op is giving us all the details here ladies and gents. We should be so lucky that we have someone who was eager to be a part of all it there, but quick to rip it when its gone, here...Otherwise we'd never know the truth.

No I was not apart of a bit nor did I jump for joy. Russ broke my windshield while I was running Leykis. It was not staged or rehearsed. In my 6 years there...I spoke maybe 10 minutes with Russ.

I worked for Pugs and Kelly as a producer and occasionaly filled in for Eric and various other shows. I merely posed for Mr Puniverse on the website to help promote it. I was never a contestant. Its nice you are trying to make these claims...which none are true. I was a Board Op (full time), worked Commercial Production, Producer and was Interim Assistant Program Director towards the end.

Pugs and Kelly were not without fault. Yes we did plug in there headphones, but at the end of the day Pugs and Kelly went out of there way to help me out in many ways. Whether helping me become a good producer/board op, or helping me financially when times were though.

So you can try to discredit what I did or claim I am speaking lies...but at the end of the day...those who worked along side me there know the truth.
