JVR, I agree. Monica is the biggest name in local news and has been for years. Her endorsement goes a long ways. I hope they take that ad a little wider than just their own group stations.

But, no, not necessarily true. While I believe WSB has one of the best news departments (likes of Chandler, Slade, Caiaccio) in Atlanta, they are a talk station with hosts such as Rush and Hannity. I've never quite put Monica in the same crowd as them.

What I can't figure out is, she is going to school and working on her Masters. No problem there, but I believe it is in 'Mass Communications'. Seems to me, she should be TEACHING it.

She is going to school to learn about it, dear friends. Monica was never a reporter or a "news person." She was, from the beginning, and has always been, just like her predecessor Jocelyn Dorsey, a "news reader." Dorsey did the noon news for years, then moved into management (a move I've long suspected was at Monica's instigation to assure her dominance). The few times Monica has been thrust into the situation of breaking news (a la the "It's a moose" episode during flooding on I-75 North during a rain storm) she has been assisted by seasoned veterans such as John Pruitt. She never claimed to be a "reporter" though she was a "personality interviewer." She was not as broad in her experience as her idol Barbara Walter.
