Monique and the Man Downsized

If this is a stunt, it's an unbelievably poorly-conceived and executed one.

The idea behind stunting is to 1) gather media attention and 2) increase listenership. Explain to me how this action, if it truly is a stunt, will accomplish that? All it comes across as to the average Joe is another dumb management "downsizing".

Just look to recent history how dumb and ill-conceived ANYTHING in radio has been....then this won't be such a surprise to you. BFM's whole million dollar morning show (cumulative) debacle was an ill-conceived stunt by Tracy Johnson. Because after the hype all we got was a third-rate comic and an emasculated co-host. And by the look at their numbers over the course of history...well, you be the judge.
This new attempt is another feeble try at making something outta nothing. The formatic alteration plays into PPM. Let's wait and see.

This stunt is still in it’s infancy.
Listeners will ask/protest, where’s the gang? Perhaps some listeners Monique-heads will picket the station or start a petition or threaten to ride the roller coaster at Belmont Park until the cast is back on the air 5a -9a. I think you’ll see something come of this. The only “tell” that this is stunt is the fact that there is a bus board promoting the fact that M and M plus Sarah are on 5a-5:30a. How much sense does that make? I think my prediction is so good that you can slap my mama and call me Matlock.

And the comedy seemed to have morphed into "you go girl" psycho babble. It would have been nice to have an actual humorous morning show in San Diego, but they have done everything wrong with this one from the start including the latest stunt (and I agree - if they promote a 5-5:30 show on buses, it's a stunt).

But who's going to line up and protest - the vast legions of listeners they never had? The morning show people may all be the swellest folk you'll ever meet, but this is show biz and their act just did not work.

Chris @ SDRadio ran a picture of a busboard "promoting" the new all music aproach. If Midwest were trying to dump the morning show, why would they do anything to promote it?
This is an "thinking outside-of-the-box" stunt.

He probably use the sign generator here: http://ruletheweb.co.uk/b3ta/bus/

Which I originally saw at fark.com a few days ago: http://www.fark.com/cgi/comments.pl?IDLink=4298107

Okay Chris got me on that one. It's not Jack that's stunting, it's Chris!

Of course the irony is that is does not seem been the realm of possibilities that they would actually do such a thing.

I say bring back Joan Welby and Chuck Jones - "The Joneses" lol. Crusty Bob too with news you can use.

Guapo says sorry, didn't realize it was a fake picture. My theory of a stunt just got blown out of the water.
Apologies to everybody on this thread except Garret.
Garret, don't pick on the Joneses, at least they were on the air in San Diego in morning drive...

And FM 103.7 had its best ratings ever during that time. With a good PD that could have morphed into a very good show and there was in fact noticeable improvement when they had a consultant advising the morning shw, but like so many other things at that operation, management dropped the ball after an initial burst of enthusiasm (KYXY continues to thrive on the legacy of elements put in place well over a decade ago - it's amazing that none of the past 10 or 12 years of management has screwed that up).

Did you not see the "Just kidding" part? I was joking. Jones had a very good show. I still have a copy of "The Bubble" somewhere...

BTW: That's GarreTT (the second T is silent...)

You should add "GarreTT from Lubbock (the second T and the B are silent) to your signature.
