Mo'Nique Mornings @ 95.5 WPGC ???

Please tell me this is a joke!!! Im assuming the folks at CBS didn't notice what a joke she was when Radio One syndicated her afternoon show. Just watch BET at 11pm EST and you'll flip within 10minutes of her yelling. If this is true Russ Parr wins big time!

I like Mo'Nique, she's a sweetheart. Met her many times. One of our local comedians, Tone X formerly of the morning show here on Power 98 is a writer for her BET show. But I have to agree with you all. Let me start off by saying I seriously doubt the accuracy of this article. I don't think CBS is that stupid. They seen it didn't work on Radio One, why would they try a failed product? I haven't heard anything of it in Charlotte, if they do add her I would assume it would be syndicated since CBS seems to be dumping all of the morning talent. We'll see, if it is true, I doubt it will be successful. But I still wish Mo the best of luck.

Actually that's not true. Maybe you can give an example where that's happened.

Well speaking from ATL, I know CBS nor Reggie would mess with Frank & Wanda Morning Show on V103. I know down in Orlando CBS went syndicated years ago with Steve Harvey on 102 JAMZ.

Power 98 Charlotte, 2 of 3 morning jocks have been released. They have one person morning show, and one person doesn't work in morning drive. CBS has also released many of their Quiet Storm jocks, including Charlotte, where it's jockless. Atlanta has also released Joyce Littel. In Charlotte, they haven't even changed imaging, the edited the previous host's name out and it sounds so stupid. But back to mornings, they may put it on in a few markets, not all of them. Even Radio One has local morning shows, like Madd Hatta in Houston. If you are not behind the walls of CBS, don't say it's "not true" because you don't know, because you don't work there

Quiet Storm isn't morning drive. You said CBS is "dropping all of their morning talent." I haven't seen that happen yet. I would say the percentage of staffed morning shows on CBS exceeds their competition. They don't seem to have a wholesale replacement going on of local for syndication. When they drop someone, as they did with Donnie Simpson, they replace him with someone. Clear Channel, on the other hand, has syndicated options, such as Steve Harvey or Elvis Duran. No such system seems to be in place now at CBS.

POWER 98 CHARLOTTE, 2 OF THE 3 MORNING JOCKS HAVE BEEN RELEASED! THEY HAVE A ONE PERSON MORNING SHOW! What part of that is confusing? The Morning Maddhouse, Power 98 Charlotte has released Janine Davis and Terrence Belser, 2 of the 3 characters on the morning show. Larry Mims is the only one left, he is also the only one who has hosted a daypart solo other than morning drive. Learn to read. There is noone syndicated on CBS now, but maybe Mo'Nique is about to change that? In the past CBS has always hired someone back, but they're a victim of this recession just like everyone else. This could be a cost saving thing. But the reality is, you don't know, and I don't know because neither one of us work at CBS, it's speculation on both of our parts, so be respectful.

CBS owns about 150 stations. You are making a broad generalization based on one of them, in a market that CBS is looking to sell. I don't think you can make that kind of generalization based on one station in Charlotte. Give me a list of 20 CBS stations that have replaced their morning shows with syndication, like some of the other owners, and maybe I'll agree.

On another subject, I'm a bit tired of this multi-person morning zoo approach to radio. It's run its course. I'd be happy with one good person instead of three talentless people chattering among themselves. If CBS is heading in that direction, I'm in full support. But that's just my personal opinion.

CBS Radio has no intention of leaving Charlotte anytime soon, that much I know for a FACT. So, u dead wrong on that. CBS may have 150+ station, but they only have four Urban formatted stations, two really PGC and 102 Orlando are both Rhythmic. If two of four have dumped morning talent, well that's half, you could draw that conclusion. As I said before, I don't know and neither do you, this is just speculation, by you and by me. I couldn't care less if you agree with me or not. I personally like morning shows. I think jocks need to show more personality. It would be boring someone just talking to themselves, reading off a cue card like they do during other dayparts. If Tom Joyner or Steve Harvey, Michael Baisden, Rickey Smiley were just talking to themselves and reading off card, not show any personality they wouldn't be successful as they are. Morning shows usually have the highest ratings and generate the most money. They really need to do morning show format in other dayparts. They'd make more money. Jukebox radio doesn't work. You're competing with internet, tv, ipod, etc and if music is all you have to offer, that's not a reason to listen because you can hear music on all those other places. You have to give people a reason to listen, something you can't get anywhere else.

I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about big staff morning shows vs. one person. One good, talented person is better than four yackers. They may have reached that conclusion. Maybe CBS is getting out of urban completely. Who knows. But I know they've spent tons of money on morning talent in other formats and most of their other markets, and there is no evidence that they are, as you put it, "dropping all of their morning talent."

Looks like DCRTV.com is now speculating that it will be Big Tigger in AM drive on WPGC, as originally reported.

I was actually looking forward to Mo'Nique in the Morning. Actually, this aspect of it: BET could air a TV simulcast of Mo'Nique's new morning show, but they'd use her real last name in the title, and call it "Imes in the Morning." What kind of a person would Don Imus be if he sent them a cease & desist over that title?

Yeah, that's what conclusion I've come to about mornings that it would be Tigger. Now, the afternoon slot could either go to Herkules or Osei (who has been bouncing back and forth from WVEE and WPGC over the last 2 years).
