Monkees' Davy Jones Dies at 66

It would be nice if Antenna TV or MeTV played a couple Monkees episodes today.

Antenna is running all 58 episodes this weekend, plus the "Head" movie. :)

All of the memorials on my local radio stations would be quite touching
(if any of them realized that they are playing all the tracks where Mickey Dolenz
sang lead)

...some others:

"A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You" was sung by Davy.
"Pleasant Valley Sunday" and "Words" were sung by Mickey.

Saw Dolenz on GMA this morn -- he spoke very lovingly of his bandmate and good friend. Seems to me like he and Jones really hit it off and stuck together through the years, maintaining a close relationship and working on projects together, while Tork and Nesmith were often more standoffish and desirous of maintaining more distance from their Monkees legacy. (Although both participated in some reunions and projects, both jointly and separately.)

I was amused that age has hardly altered Mickey's voice -- he still sounds like he hasn't gone through puberty yet! :D

In HS I had a crush on a lass whose eyes could've well been stolen from Micky Dolenz.

Could do a lot worse -- my HS gal's eyes were stolen from Ben Turpin...

(Just kidding, Sheri, wherever you are! I just wanted to see how many of the forum young'uns get the joke...) :p

It could have been worse. It could have been Marty Feldman!!! :D

While it's true that Jones didn't sing lead on all of their songs, didn't he at least play the tambourine on songs on which he didn't sing lead?

It's too bad that (apparently) nobody played his solo song "Girl," best known from his appearance on The Brady Bunch.

If it's the episodes that Don Kirschner were involved in, it's more like a studio musician playing trombone and Davy acting like he did.

Didja ever see Mickey's daughter Ami when she starred in 1989's She's Out of Control? Very attractive young lady, and she very much has Mickey's eyes. :)
