Monkey's Eyebrow, Kentucky

I was surprised, a few years ago, to learn there are *two* Monkey's Eyebrows in Kentucky.

I knew about the one in Western Kentucky, where the WPSD tower is.

While traveling from Nashville to Lexington, I saw a sign for *another* one. VERY roughly 30 miles west of Lexington, right off the main highway. Haven't had any success locating it online.

I'm not sure that I can answer this, but it may be that only one town per state having any given name may have a post office in that name. In other words, if the monkey's "other" eyebrow wanted to incorporate (and have a post office), they might have to do so using another name.

My Grandma Ethel Boyd Dismore was from Kevil, and after graduating from the Teacher's College in Bowling Green (now WKU), she taught for a while at a one-room school in Monkey's Eyebrow. If memory serves, it's mostly the Ballard Wildlife Refuge now.

Perhaps the way to keep the U.S. Postal Service and the FCC happy is to give the two communities different names: "Monkey's Eyebrow" and "Monkey's Other Eyebrow."

You don't have to incorporate to have a post office, just have a sufficient population (now defined as an ever increasing quantity to make it profitable).
