Had 92.3 on while working, and someone won their $1,000 payoff.  The guy said he was from Barnegat......need I say more?  Oh, wait...

It's at the point where seeing two stations at the 1's are no surprise.  Perhaps the .1 bump at B was from the clubhouse?  Hey, I tune in every Saturday night, maybe those 4 hours of dance music can go 24/7, would make a difference AND create an identity.  Or, better yet, let ME take control.  If I can bring numbers on a limited connection known as Party 732 with VERY LITTLE promotion managed to attract near 10,000 listeners within one year, imaging what can be done on an FM signal.  Yes, I'm putting it out there  :)

Many format holes in this market, yet no one wants to capitalize on any of them. I've given up on ever seeing a return of alternative rock, because Greater Media doesn't want to cannibalize WRAT and Press Communications clearly despises the format, going to great lengths to alienate listeners, promoting G Rock and its events very poorly, and unceremoniously killing it without even launching an online equivalent. A Gen-X format would do well, hitting the desirable demos, but it seems that everyone would prefer to skew older and younger with their programming. Finally, the most baffling omission of all: the lack of a news/talk station in the market. Apparently it hasn't dawned on area broadcasters that much of the area is not within the range of the NYC, Philly, and AC stations (the vast majority of which are on AM). And while I do enjoy NJ 101.5's programming (even though their signal is weak in the area, not coming in on alarm clocks and portable devices), it would be nice to have a station that does more substantive discussion. These formats do well just about everywhere they can be found, even on the weakest signals. I guess Press and GM are just too cheap to take the plunge, even though it's about as close as you can get to a sure thing. They'll both settle for the anemic numbers of B & Magic until someone comes in and takes the station(s) off their hands.

Just got this now...

Or even better, this article was published on Forbes Magazine

Perfect time to capitalize on a dance format.  I'm sick and tired of hearing everyone saying "dance will not work" if no one tried it.  And the best part about WARG, is they are letting Fusion Radio, an INTERNET station playing the music. What does THAT tell you?

Show this thread to Greater Media and WPEN, Dance should be on 97.5 next flip.

Greater Media has the HD channels in this market. They also own two translators in Ocean County. There's one in Monmouth that's up for grabs. I was proposing the HD2 feed being simulcasted on their 100.7 (W264AM) translator in the heart of Toms River as a start.

or perhaps a translator would be a good place to start for a Dance station?

It's a start, since nobody wants to attempt it on a decent signal.
