Mono FM stations

Two New York FM stations continue choose to broadcast in mono. WLNG eastern Long Island and WQBU from North Shore Towers in Queens. Are you familiar with other FMs around the US which have made this decision to go for extra distance rather than channel separation?

WIHS-FM 104.9 of Middletown, CT broadcasts in mono. This religious station had been mono as long as I can remember. WPKT-FM 90.5 of Meriden, CT, the Connecticut Public Radio station for the Hartford/Meriden corridor, is in mono for most of the day.

Today's 96.5 FM in Philadelphia is WRDW-FM, a.k.a. Wired 96.5. Yes, I do remember hearing that rich monophonic sound when scanning on the Walkman back in the day. :)

93.9 WNYC-FM broadcasts in mono during most of their talk programming, and 89.9 WKCR used to be 100% mono up until about a year ago, when they began transmitting in stereo most of the time. I think they shut off the stereo when they do shows featuring vintage Jazz music that was only recorded in mono.

The infamous 103.1 "Jukebox Radio" (W276AQ Dumont, NJ) used to always be in mono. I'm not sure how they're transmitting today under the Christian format.

I don't know if they still do now, haven't heard them in a while.

The 3 fm stations that broadcast WCPT 99.9-92.7-92.5, turn off stereo during the day, during
talk and then turned on the pilot at 9 pm for the brokered Dance Factory format.

There were days when they forget and the stereo was on all day, and other times where
they stayed mono at night.

WBEZ at 91.5 FM (public radio) used to air talk by day in mono, and music at night in stereo.

They dropped music around 2007. They are now in HD day and night.

WYVC 102.3 FM in Camden Alabama is broadcasting in mono.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. They bill themselves as "The Best Gospel Music and Programming Around".

WAAZ FM 104.7 FM Crestview FL Stereo Pilot, mono programming. I think the control board is mono.

All news WTOP FM in Washington, DC; flipped to mono when Bonneville moved the classical format of WGMS to a rim shot fm signal. Classical was eventually dumped from the rim shot.

My memory of WLNG was that they had a Reverb sound during Paul Sidney's show, Always thought it was so cool

WNIR 100.1 in Akron. Only has 4,200 watts and broadcasts from Kent which is about 9 air miles out of town, and runs a talk format, so mono makes sense. Still manages to be at or near the top of the ratings in Akron though! Goes to show you what live and local can do.

We're mono on WQFM, 100.1 near Carbondale, PA. The format is ESPN...mostly talk. Mono makes sense. Our signal is in there along route 17 between Deposit and Livingston manor, NY and down through Lake wallen. in the northern Poconos.

There are 3 in the Houston area. All of them run in mono in an attempt to stretch the signal from the Beaumont area into Houston. These are KQBU/Port Arthur at 93.3, KKHT/Winnie at 100.7, and KFNC/Beaumont at 97.5.

In Canada all of the CBC Radio 1 stations are mono, mostly due to the fact that the format started on AM radio. They launched CBC Radio 2 in stereo but have never upgraded any of the Radio 1 stations to stereo, but since most of the programming is talk it doesn't really matter anyways.

KTDK 104.1 (sports) is Mono
WBAP-FM 96.7 (talk) is mono
KTCY 101.7 (spanish) for whatever reason drops the stereo pilot daily during certain programming
KESN 103.3 (espn) is mono

those are the mono's I know of in DFW.
