Rest of Louisiana Monroe changes

Apparently new owners are doing changes such as putting Rock 106 back on a weaker signal at 103.1, changing Rhythmic CHR 103.1 to Adult R&B on stronger 106.1 signal, adding Kid Kraddick to Sunny 98.3 and some changes at 92.3 as per Radio insight

Adult R&B KMVX 101.9 had a larger share of audience than the four FMs combined of the newly acquired cluster. So, it might make sense to take on KMVX with a station that has some signal parity. Based on the most recent ratings, KNNW 103.1 and KMYY 92.3 had pretty meager ratings. So, dropping 103.1's format and changing up 92.3 don't seem out of line.

It’s hard to compete when you have established players like K-104 and Z-Country out of Ruston

Why get rid of CHR instead of putting it on another frequency?

See the post above. And Now likely wasn’t holding its weight in billing, so a frequency move probably wasn’t going to move the needle.

Besides, there are plenty of options for CHR around the country. You’ll be fine.

Plus Q93 out of Alexandria covers the Monroe market so well. It’s a longtime dominant CHR that does really well. The guys at CenLa broadcasting do a sharp job with production

Q93 has been a tight, well-run station for decades. They do good work.
People might look down at some of these smaller markets. But where else are you seeing innovation where local owners are purchasing clusters or already own clusters and are investing in programming? In fact, the radio people does the best job with connecting to the audience. Each summer they do a hot dog giveaway and then grill hot dogs free for everyone in the area. It’s quite amazing

Along with the format changes, Warrior has applied to swap the KXRR and KNNW calls on September 11...

The KXRR calls will move from 106.1 to 103.1
The KNNW calls will move from 103.1 to 106.1

And in a new application, 106.1 will change calls again to KMJZ next week (9/17)

Speaking of changes in Monroe, what happened to 97.3? I remember I visited Monroe a few months back and I remember I heard they were playing some sort of ancient big band jazz music. Far as i know the target audience for big band jazz radio BEEN gone for a couple generations now… Were they stunting for a new format? I am not in Monroe often so I don’t keep track of their stations 100% of the time.

Yeah I’ve been hearing that too. It’s confusing. Whenever I ask around no one knows who’s programming it.

Says "DB" for digital broadcasting - but has contact info. Not sure if it's what's going out over the air in Monroe or not, but if Todd Fowler owns it, he's in the Carolinas somewhere last I heard.
It's an internet station... 97.3 at one point was adult R&B "Majic 97." As it has been gone, 106.1 has picked up the "Magic" handle for its new adult R&B format.

But the actual FM on 97.3 is playing top 40 hits from 1925. Radio innovation comes from Monroe
From my understanding the big band music is just a placeholder to have audio on the air while a buyer is found. When the owner of Majic 97 (presumably) couldn't continue to pay the note, the license when back to the original owner which was Holladay Broadcasting but since they are at their ownership cap, they couldn't do anything with it.

This all happened several years ago so something could have changed in that time but that was always my understanding of it.

I was about to ask about KJMG-97.3 and what format they're airing now or if there still on the air. I know they couldn't be using the "Magic" handle since it's now on 106.1 and I did a search online saying the format is still Urban AC. What's the station doing now?
