Monroe gets "Mike"d?

Opus Monroe's KMYY 92.3 has aparently been shifted from "real Country" to calling themselves "Mike" and following the no DJ sound of others who flipped to the cute liners between songs of other named stations. Playlist was heard to be currents and recent recurrant country mainly with some classic country.

Don't know when it flipped but I couldn't find any reference of it here on the forum and this I think is one of the first, if not the first "named" stations in Louisiana.

That's why I put it.... As Red could be a reference to red stick and isn't a common name like some of the other name stations (Alice,Hank,Jack)...But yeah Red was number 1....

I have had a couple of chances to listen--I like it. Holding true to its "Jack" style, Mike FM has attitude, a great selection and vry few commercials. I guess when the secret gets out that will change.

I'm not sure if I like the "no jock" style. Many other Jack formats are similar, yet others have jocks. Not sure here, time will tell.

I'm not from Monroe but I keep up on the market thru here and my guess is Opus flipped it very recently. But also you have to remember how the Jack type stations operate.... Get rid of the jocks for a little while while people get comfortable with the music and the liners with in this case "Mike" announcing..then give about a month and start adding JOcks back into place.

But yeah, time will tell if this is just an automated station or not.
