We are currently experiencing a dust storm here in the Phoenix metro area.

Channel 3 and Channel 5 have broken into programming to cover the storms. So far 10, 12, & 15 are not interrupting programing to cover this dangerous situation created by mother nature.

Update: 8:00 pm Channel 5 is back to regularly scheduled program.

Channel 3 is still covering, this I take it is the one of the advantages of being an independent.
 
Thanks for the heads-up! Oddly, I had the Cox News Channel on and they're actually showing repeats of GEAZ!!

It's raining at the airport -- a true miracle!! ;D
 
I got to my house and turned on the TV at 9:00. 3TV was closely watching the storm and had 2 reporters in the field. I switched to 5, 10, 12 & 15. Network programming.

I stayed with 3, switching every few minutes to the other channels and still got regular shows. Around 8:30 15 had a report.

Big Thumb Up to 3TV. They kept us informed.

BTW I live in south Peoria and didn't get rain or dust.
 
KTVK has a normally scheduled news show at 9PM weeknights. It would be normal and natural for them to cover the weather at this hour.

But really.....do monsoon (haboob) storms really deserve that much attention? I mean it's kinda like:

OMG! It's summer in Phoenix and IT'S HOT OUTSIDE!!!!!

It's very simple...if you don't want to watch something, there are 500 other channels to watch. Weather is an important thing to many people here in the valley. I'm sure the ratings will mirror this.
 
The stations in the Phoenix area seem to go nuts whenever we (a) get a dust storm or (b) rain is falling anywhere in or near the Valley. Pictures of the haboob (huge dust storm last night) are remarkable but a chopper (hello KSAZ) flying around this morning looking for downed trees and dirt in pools is a little, no, a lot silly. As are location reporters standing in 1/4 inch of water describing the "downpour".
 
With a few minutes to go in NCIS, KPHO cut into the program to update the storm situation. With his name and title clearly labeled in the graphic, Chris still had to spell out "I'm Chief Meteorologist Chris Dunn...." Never did see what Anthony DiNozzo was going to look at in that top secret file.

Really, it the report or forecast better because it comes from "the chief meteorologist"?
