Montage leading to "new" CBS-FM

In my opinion, the finest, best produced montage leading into the flip of any radio station occurred in the 15 minutes before CBS-FM switched from "Jack" to "Greatest Hits." Simulcast on "Jack" as well.

Very powerful, emotional and just incredible to hear. Historic and very personal to those of us who grew up and lived through the generation depicted. Starting with the "rewind" of "Summer Wind" (the last song played on CBS-FM two years ago...then going back to 1964 to 1980s...)

WOW! Great job! Well done!

I agree, wonder if it was the same person or team that put together the K-Rock.

Mayor Koch welcoming back CBS-FM, over "I Love New York" theme

"Produced liner, legal ID... Beach Boys Al Jardine, into "Do It Again: Beach Boys"

Kudos to the poster who picked it!!!!1

Did you hear Ed koch Remark "They admitted that they Screwed up" New York for ya!

Hmm No Echo Chamber effect?

Ed Koch line was priceless ... and especially over "I Love New York" ... in my opinion, the finest ad jingle campaign ever made. "CBS admitted they screwed up!" You GO Ed!

Nice words from Mayor Bloomberg and a perfect "second song" ... "Respect" by Aretha Franklin.

We be "doin' it again" now!

That was an outstanding production piece and scene setter. Truly befitting the occasion and Market #1. Major props to the production department and all involved. Superb!

Absolutely mind blowing, could not have done better...great to have it blasting out of my dashboard!!

BTW David Eduardo- first clip on the montage was Sinatra with Summer wind...would you like the humble pie for here or to go????

Welcome back ;D ;D

Nice, too. That everyone thanked "the people of New York, who never, ever gave up hope".

The touch of having both Al Jardine and Frankie Valli welcoming the station back (with the John Sebastian
"CBS-FM Welcome Back!" sing) was, too a nice touch.

A very classy way to come back. And, yes...allowing Ed Koch to say CBS "screwed up" was big of them, too.

Enjoy, New York!

I happened to miss it... I hope that someone will have a recording to post somewhere!

Provided someone doesn't beat me to it within the next four hours, I'll post a nice high quality copy of the montage for ye!

Looking forward to it... I was in a meeting that went too long... doh! At least the CBS-FM 2.0 sounds pretty good so far... certainly a high energy presentation...

that montage was phenominal....it gave me goosebumps! I agree..classy...and emotional. I'm sure it made everyone feel like their 'friend' was back--and this is what was missing..personality!

great lead in, but they're leaning a lot on springsteen, fleetwood, joel, cougar, so the lead in seems to be misleading; not jumping to the attack just yet, let the day play through, and then you'll hear from me(but the ratio of Jack/AC/LIte FM stuff is not a good early sign)

First ignore anything that David Eduardo says.

Shannon sounds great! Station sounds terrific!

Just heard Senator Clinton!

To me this was the longest apology in NYC Radio history. Was with mom in the car when the montage was played. And may I say APOLOGY ACCEPTED WHOLEHEARTEDLY! A class act put together by all involved and to include the CBS-FM jingles adds the final little touch.

And if I may say--CBS-FM is BACK, JACK!

And they have a solid line-up of DJ's--Bob Shannon as funny as hell. Dan Taylor to kick off mornings and two 'KTU guys Broadway Bill Lee and Joe Causy--FUGHEDDABOUDIT--this will show CBS brass who had no class with the Jack format that NYC is mighty darn special when it comes to music!

Oh, and I forgot Al Meredith on news.

This station is as bright and as vibrant as NYC itself.

And regarding Shrillary--what the heck does a woman with Chicago ties know about NYC radio??? Unfortunately she is the junior Senator from the state.

Rushed and cluttered. 101.1 should have stayed in the Jack format until 1:01:00, then into the legal ID jingle and the new format.

The best format transition I've ever heard was on 1050 AM on July 1, 1987. Around 2:56 the DJ on country station WHN cued the last song, "For the Good Times" by Ray Price. At 2:59:50 you heard a WHN legal ID jingle, 5 seconds dead air, then a play-by-play soundbite and a legal ID for SportsRadio 1050, WFAN, New York. "All sports ... all the time."
