Monte Carlo Fire Coverage

Shortly before 11am today, a fire breaks out at the Monte Carlo on the strip. Channel 13 has pretty good coverage. KNEWS (Nothing Ever Worth Sharing) is running a real estate show. KXNT is running Rush Limbaugh. K-Yawn has coverage of the fire with Heidi Harris. So much for "live" eh KXNT?? Why KNews even refers to itself as "news" is beyond me. K-Yawn, well at least we had a break from poly-speed talk for an hour or so..

840 finally did start local coverage. 720 sounded better, especially with the sirens in the background on Tom Cutler's reports (and the guard telling him to get the hell out!). 840 sounded more like a music station trying to do news. I was watching Headline News -- they were talking to an anchor who was in LV for Miss America -- she said she was getting her info from the radio!

AM 840 started at about 11:20am PT. Now we know that many buildings with foam and artificial stucco are highly vulnerable to fire. The safety of this cheap form of construction should be investigated. Not to mention how ugly it is compared to genuine adobe in New Mexico.

Using my dual dualing Art Bell Versacorders, one set to kxnt or kxnt-whatever and the other set to kyawn, I determined that TV broke the fire story. You can bet that you get casino suck-up reporting from both stations about long term safety issues. I hope the Heavy Hitter does his thing.

May I ask the board a question. It's feb 9th and we're still talking about versacording the fire of ~ Jan 25 lol

Well....how about coverage of the investigation into the Monte Carlo fire? What station is investigating the safety of foam and artificial stucco?

Have any of the stations announced that they will have a Monday night 6pm-7pm one hour special on the investigation as to the cause, and, the dangers / flammability of foam and artificial stucco on Nevada casino and apartment properties?

KDWN, or KXNT, go to work and promote the hell out of your upcoming 5pm or 6pm one hour special - both before AND after. And put the MP3 on the web site to get listeners to see your advertisers on-line.

These boring 35+ talk stations need to promote themselves to the 18-49ers to get more to get ratings, esp. K - yawn and K - new. They're not hip enough, and their hosts are way too conservative.

Heidi talking about the fact that she is a Christian and that she is against gay marriage, like on Friday Feb 8th? Give me a break. This is the 20th century. I don't care what her religion is. If she is against gay marriage, as a listener, I don't care what she thinks, because I don't care what my neighbors are doing. I don't need a talk host telling me that she disapproves of what my neighbors are doing. Please leave your listeners alone and don't talk about your faith. Last time I checked, this was a free country. If they want to go get married in the states where it is legal (I don't know where) then they have the right to do this.

Vegas is socially liberal, so taking a conservative viewpoint on that topic will drive listeners away, especially by stating your religion in the same monologue.
