UNFORTUNATLEY KYZZ DOES NOT HAVE MUCH OF A CHANCE. DRVING THROUGH THE AREA I COMPARED BOTH AFTERNOON SHOWS (FREEZE AT KYZZ, AND ERIC THE FUNKY ONE AT KDON) AND KDON HAS EVERYTHING IN CONTROL THE MARKET. FREEZE'S FUNDAMENTALS DON'T EVEN SEEM TO COMPARE TO THOSE OF A WEEKENDER. I GUESS I'M JUST SURPRISED ALL HIS EXPIRENCE DOESNT SEEM TO ADD UP TO WHAT I HEARD. I KNOW ERIC THE FUNKY ONE HAS HELD THE NUMBER ONE SPOT IN THE MARKET CONSISTENTLY 12 PLUS, 18-34, AND BEEN BACK AND FORTH 25-54 WITH KPRC BUT HE SOUNDS GOOD AND KNOWS HIS STUFF, IF YOUR A FEMALE 18-34 I CAN'T SEE HER RELATING TO FREEZE. INTERESTING TO SEE WHO ELSE KYZZ WILL BRING FOR THIER REMAINING DAYPARTS BUT IT WILL BE TOUGH COMPETING WITH THE POWERHOUSE IN THE MARKET.

One shouts, the other whispers. Sheesh.

Hint to the original poster: Posts are much easier to read when not done in all caps. (In addition, it has always been considered rude on the Net to leave the Caps Lock key on while posting.)<P ID="signature">______________

Powerhouses can be beaten, but...

Back on topic, KDON has had numerous challenges in the past and always by properties at a distinct disadvantage. Sometimes the disadvantage was a signal issue, but most times KDON survived not because it was better but because the challenger mounted a less than effective effort.

KDON, while it has signal and heritage, can be beaten by anyone with money, patience and good radio savvy --a truth that applies to most any radio market-- but you'll be hard pressed to find anyone willing to spend the resources to win in a market with an annual revenue base of just $15 million (give or take). Translation: they wanna win in a market with a small pot of gold? They can have it.

KDON is not that good, but no one is willing to be better.
