Montgomery Has A New Classic Country Radio Station

It's called Possum and is heard at 103.9 FM.

Hope everyone will enjoy it.

Look forward to listening, when I travel through there again.

"Possum". I'll take that. Don't dare try to spell it "opossum", that would just tick me off.

Them Bluewater guys seem to be on to a good thing up there in Gumptown.

It the station all 1980's and earlier twang or are they mixing some Bluegrass in to the rotation?

The station is playing a lot o 70's as well as the obligatory Patsy and Hank Sr., but seems centered in the 80's.

I have been listening since I got to my office at 7 a.m. The signal is strong penetrating the building I am in on Cioliseum Boulevard and Traffic Operations Road (behind the Garrett Coliseum). The music is great. I love the classic country legends. I played 45 RPM country as a disc jockey in the early 70's (Let's hear some "Statler Brothers"). It brings back good memories hearing the 80s stuff. The choice of the voice doing the drops is good. The jingles are catchy. Good job, Bluewater!

I remember a long time ago, probably some 20 or so years ago, 93.3 in Huntsville was country as "The Possum." The imaging then was very catchy as well with stuff like, "the only radio station in Huntsville that can hang upside down from a tree by it's tail, 93.3 The Possum." LOL! Although it never beat WDRM, it was a good country station. It was more edgy and fun than WDRM was. I hate it didn't last, although I'm not much of a country fan. I think classic country will do pretty well in Montgomery. I know its a big urban market, but I know there is a market for this too. By the looks of the maps, its the best translator in Montgomery! I wish them luck with it.

*Signal Report*

This morning I tuned in and could hear it.

Amazing thing is I live here in North Selma, off the Summerfield Road.

Great job guys!

Hope the new format will do very well.
