I looked up the JACK-FM format and this is precisely what they had in mind - an "iPod shuffle" with thousands of songs, none related to the other. There is only one Jack station I could find in Alabama, and it's in York.
The negative would be that there are no live jocks on Jack stations. The sweepers and IDs are produced in one central location in Canada or somewhere.
Some of the Jack stations have been successful. There are also several who have met with a degree of failure, like WCBS-FM in New York City. Last June, without warning, WCBS dropped its 30+ year oldies format and dumped its personalities on a Friday afternoon and re-emerged as a Jack station.
I can't wait to hear what will be played on Alice this weekend!
Edited by momnpop on 03/29/06 01:25 PM.
