I find that MOST Montreal FM'ers do fairly well up until around 50 to 60 miles south of the border, just north of Lake Placid, NY. The major stumbling block is the area near Whiteface Mountain. On the north side of Whiteface, Montreal FM reception is a cinch. However, to the south of Whiteface, Montreal is spotty almost to non-existance. Believe it or not, CKOI's signal (360 kW) is actually weaker in the Adirondacks than CHOM-FM's (41.2 kW). In fact, all of the Mount Royal FM's put in a better signal than CKOI. But CKOI still has a respectable signal in the same area. I was a big "CHOM-FM" fan back in the mid 1980's while making regular trips to the Adirondacks (the in-laws)! We also get CBF/100.7, CBM/93.5, CJFM/95.9, CFQR/92.5 and others at equal strength in the Adirondacks.

> AC CFQR is 43kW, while Standard Radio's CJFM (hot AC/CHR) &
> CHOM (rock) are 42kW, all atop Mount Royal. French CHR 96,9
> CKOI is 360kW atop the CIBC Tower.
