More 1240....Sadness

I remember one of the hits being played on KRAK when it was Top 40 being "Alley Oop" by the Hollywood Argyles. They had a remote broadcast that they did from ED's drive in on Freeport Blvd. You could leave a written request on the DJ's turn table there during the week. KRAK was a station you could get on your six transistor even without extending the antenna.
 
Nobody is noticing because even the crazy old broad who owns the station doesn't listen.

And then, of course, there's also Kroy Way, the site of the original KROY transmitter. Many years ago the Sac library had a huge file of KROY ephemera including a printed program about opening day festivities and newspaper articles about the new station in town. When KROY began it was the hottest thing happening in Sac.
