More 60's and 70's now on 106.7

106.7 is sounding really good with NOW more 60's and 70's music. The 80's going bye bye! I like it!!
I wonder if this is to reduce the overlap between now-sisters Journey and AGH.  If so, would this be a prelude to Journey getting a promotion to a better signal?  It would seem that 80s/90s would be more of a draw today than 60s/70s (the perceived self-importance of baby boomers be darned...  ;) ).

Some possibilities:
1) AGH and Journey swap dial positions.  AGH goes back to True Oldies off the bird.
2) Rock100.5 blows up.  Journey goes to 100.5.  AGH stands pat on 106.7, and 97.9 goes Christmas for now.
3) Rock100.5 blows up.  Journey goes to 106.7, and AGH to 100.5 (maybe as True Oldies), and 97.9 goes Christmas for now.

The obvious counter-argument to Journey getting the better signal is that Journey faces stiff competition with B98.5 and Star, while AGH has that format space all to itself, especially since River has essentially gone full classic rock.

Side note: Don't look now, but Rock100.5 is tweaking AGAIN...this time adding back more 80s AOR and harder/louder stuff to differentiate themselves from River.

Looks good. They are, of course, still playing 80s music - you have to if you're classic hits in 2011. I highly doubt that era will go 'bye bye' on WYAY.

When did this happen? They've been sounding terrible as of late.

Mistake #1: Throwing in the towel to B-98 (helped nobody but B-98)
Mistake #2: Trying to sound more like lower rated Journey (we don't need 2 Journeys)

I'm expecting a further drop in the next ratings for 106.7. The music now sucks.

I might be wrong but hasn't 100.5 been hitting the 80's hard for some time now?

Originally they were an adult active rock station playing a mix of modern and classic rock.

Then they went classic and trended deep playing stuff like Janis Joplin, Neil Young and Head East

Then back in the summer, they trended back to more of a AOR format focusing mostly on the bigger hits of the late 70's and 80's with even a few 90's.

I'm right, right?

Yeah some 80's tunes are still being played and I think they need to go for sure, (the 80's lunch gone) also the disco music needs to go. I'm hearing more 60's and 70's (GOOD) but they need more. Also I'd like to hear the air personalities be more passionate about the music. Say what you will but Scott Shannon is very passionate about the music on the TOC with features and a great mix of music. I'd like to hear at least the TOC back on nights and weekends.

TOC is what was bringing 106.7 down in ratings to begin with. Somebody is really doing a
great job of killing this station.
GOOD LUCK with your old (catered to white men) only white
Rock and Pop oldies (also heard on about 4 other stations) 106.7. :D

WRONG! The TOC actually had very good numbers as much as a five share in some books and overall better numbers than they have now. What's wrong with playing the music that OLD White people like? We certainley have enough playing to a black audience and besides 106.7 plays a lot of R&B music from the 70's.

WRONG! Don't know where you are getting your wrong information from. They were down to something like a 2.3 and had been going down for months, when they canned True Oldies. They need
to move into 2011.......segregating music and playlists is so 1968.

1968 was a great year!

106.7 can not eliminate the 80s. Classic Hits has to include 80s music to be viable in 2011. WCBS, KRTH, KOOL-FM, KLUV, etc. - all successful classic hits stations - have had to incorporate 80s music.

These changes are likely to further separate the station from Journey.
