More All-Christmas Stations Than Last Year At This Time??

The 100000 Watts.com website has a page that lists all the stations that have flipped to all-Christmas formats.

At this writing (12 Noon EST, November 12th), the list was last revised yesterday (November 11th) at 10 A.M. EST. At that time, 24 stations were listed as having made the flip.

Since that update, several stations (mostly AC's) made the flip. Among them are WLTM Atlanta, KOIT San Francisco/Oakland, and two stations in Charlotte have followed suit. I would not be surprised if the number of all-Christmas stations has doubled or almost doubled over the last 24 hours.

I'd like to ask anyone who might know the answer if 24 to 30 all-Christmas stations as of yesterday was more than last year on November 11th, or whether 35 to 50 all-Christmas stations today would likewise be a higher total than a year ago at this time.

I placed this question on the Adult Copntemporary board since the great majority of stations that flip to all-Christmas are AC outlets (although not all-----a few oldies stations and some Contempoary Christian stations also go all-Christmas).

92.1 Lite FM WRNQ in Poughkeepsie, NY is all Christmas, 99.3 Lite FM WFKP in Ellenville, NY (simulcast with 92.1, kind of) is also all Christmas, and Mix 97 (97.3 WZAD from Wurtsboro abd 97.7 WCZX from Hyde Park, both in New York) has gone all Christmas. Technically, that means there are 4 stations in the Hudson Valley playing all Christmas music. The Lite FMs are owned by Clear Channel and Mix 97 is owned by Cumulus.

What's the situation in Charlotte? Did Lite 102.9 and K104.7 officially go all Christmas?

Answer About Charlotte (Was: Re: Christmas Update)

Based on the playlists of both stations as appearing on Yes.com (I'm not in the area), I would tend to say "Yes", given that it is November 12th and especially as both WLYT-102.9 and WKQC-104.7 have altered their websites to the Christmas design like many stations that go all-Christmas do.

I don't think they would have put up "All-Christmas" websites if this (November 11th-13th) were to have been a "preview weekend" with the regular format returning for a week or two on Monday morning (November 14th).

Re: Charlotte Update

Update, November 14th, 12:40 P.M. EST:

According to playlists posted on Yes.com, both WLYT and WKQC went back to their regular AC formats around 12 Midnight last night.

WLYT stayed AC only for twelve hours and then went all-Christmas at Noon.

At 12:20, WKQC played one Christmas song, but went back to their usual AC format. That probably won't last long, given their website also has an "All-Christmas" look.

This is crazy. Like I said on the Charlotte board, the stations are confusing listeners.<P ID="signature">______________

WOMX is offering a web only all Christmas station being streamed from Mix1051.com, while they continue to play their regular music on the radio.
