More "Anchorwoman" madness...

Also, my good friend Uncle Barky has more from his press tour...

Phil better watch where he places his hand. Almost a little too close for comfort. Also, could his smile get any bigger in those pictures?!

This is the quote I find remarkable...
"It's the first time that I've taken a model and turned her into an anchor-reporter," he acknowledged. "I'm still surprised at all the attention around the country on the journalism/entertainment issue. I've been around a long time and it's always been that way. It's entertainment, and we just weren't cutting any new ground here."

There is a fine line between News and Entertainment and sure the two meet in an entertainment segment during the news or a "light/feature" story. Also, this isn't ET, Extra, Access Hollywood, or one of those "E" shows. This is hard news. When you're talking about a kid being hit by a drunk-driver, you're trying to tell me that's News and Entertainment are one in the same there. I don't think so. The people who were not outraged by it at KYTX, are the people bucking for their own face time on national TV or one's that wanted to tow the company line. However, it's the few that didn't participate that I have the utmost respect for, because they showed true journalistic integrity.

Although, I must agree with her, the night clubs are few and far between. I was quite astonished when I moved from Longview to Tyler myself, at the differences.

I swore I wouldn't comment any more on this bimbo, but you have to admit... the real "newsmen" (Shout out to Les Nesman) in Tyler must hate her guts, as much as they are staring at them! ;D

A couple of hours ago on Fox (where else) watched a live, very rehearsed, so called "interview" with Jones and John Gibson. The only unpredictable element of the exchange was Gibson's slip of the the tongue, calling her a "swim slut model" and later asking her "how did the joke go?" Or maybe he said those things on purpose.

Also, KYTX 's call letters were plastefed at the bottom of the screen with no mention ever that Channel 19 is not a Fox affiliate.

Other than the above, the "interview" was just so much self-serving garbage and was furthermore no more than a promo for tomorrow nignt's initial run of "Anchorwoman." And Jones came off looking
extremely B-A-A-D. No doubt, Hurley called to congratulate her on a "great job," or is it "joke."

Now,just look at the way TV news has degenerated. It all started in the late 70's with Westinghouse's "PM magazine". Ten years later FOX comes on the scene, and in the 90's their affiliates started shifting into "National Enquirer" mode. Don't get me started on their net.
"Flashy,Hot looking babes, and GQ guys" with no journalistic integrity spread like a virus, and the result is ...real journalism becomes a casualty.

The show ought to be a hoot. But Uncle Barky is going soft and is overly generous--giving the program a "C."

But wait. I should actally see the program first, that is if a local Fox station, or the CBS affiliate KYTX, opts to carry it.

Hey Petralia needs to look at it this way, the next time she decides to look for another anchor/reporter gig elsewhere, she can put on the cover letter of her resume, "As Seen On ANCHORWOMAN." ;)

BTW Bill, I always forget to tell you, love your signature. The "Chuckles Bites The Dust" episode of MARY TYLER MOORE, is hilarious.
