More annoying commercials

"Bad" is in the eyes of the beholder but....

Thank your lucky stars you don't live where they have Sonic Drive-ins. Dumb. Stupid. And all too frequent.

Political ads. There has never been a good one however....we have one candidate here in AZ trying to buy his way into Congress by running hundreds of ads daily - literally. And most are the same ad. Then there is the other guy, an incumbent, who is the most repulsive face and voice ever on TV.

As far as just stupid, boring and not the least impressive I would nominate Century Link (the old Qwest). No imagination and they run many, many times per day on local TV.

By comparison, the local Cox Cable ads are much more interesting (although not enough to ever make me do business with them ever again).

Sonic, like Chick-Fil-A and other regional fast-food places, advertises very heavily on ESPN(marketing to fans who might be inclined to stop by while on a 'road trip'. So, even viewers outside Sonic's usual markets have seen their ' dumb, stupid' ad campaign.

I can't stand the one where the two guys are talking about insurance over the phone
and have their JOURNEY moment..................any way you want it.....all night long...
etc. etc. Awkward

Though I do like the "Jake from State Farm" ad, in which a man calls him at 3AM, and his wife thought that her husband was having an affair with the woman at the other end:

Wife: "So what are you wearing, Jake from State Farm?"
Jake: "Uhh.. khakis?"

They do not show it any longer, thank God! It was California's Great America.
A family sitting around a table. All they did was scream, while closed captioned
what they were saying about what a great time it would be. The teenage girl
had such a high pitched squeel, it drove me nuts.

Also, AT&T U-verse, where they have the 'Coping Family' in which they ask
Grandpa for advice. It ends with the kids complaining about the long time to
download a movie. Grandpa says, "You want enetertainment, just whistle"
Although its only twice but he whistles two times. It annoying.

I actually don't like that commercial. The wife is very annoying to me. Pretty much got sick of it after a while.

I also can't stand the following...

1. The new Fiber One commercial where the husband catches his wife passing the chewy bars as her own. Don't care for him. (It aired as I was typing this.)

2. The Chevy commercials with the employees at the dealership - one where a guy calls his former dealership to prank call and another where a couple is skeptical about the price ending with the boss giving his staffer the thumbs up and the wife says it has to be a code before the voiceover ends it.

Most annoying not only on tv but radio is for cars.com. The ones with confidence singing, in falsetto.

However my vote for the Annoying Commercial Hall of Fame goes to FreeCreditReport.Com. Awful musicianship. The music is so bad that it leads me to believe that some former radio program director gave the thumbs up for that band to be in those spots.

You want an annoying commercial? "Call J. G. Wentworth, at 877-CASH-NOW"

This operatic commercial literally drills the number into your head.

My grandfather would mute all the Democrats on C-Span. He said that was what the mute button was for. Also he was from the WWII generation, and any African American with some exceptions (Bill Cosby) would be muted. He would also talk back to the TV. If only YouTube was invented back then, I could only imagine. But that is what he would do at his house.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but it brought back memories of visiting the grandparents for the holidays.

I am sure they are plenty of 65+ folks that do the same thing.

And yes, he did the same thing for commercials. Could also explain why every day he would be taping some program, from Cronkite's 20th Century, to Lifetime Medical Television, TNN, Discovery Channel, and earlier in the day TXCN Texas Cable Network.

If it wasn't for him, I would not have a 640 plus videocassette library. My lifetime of Cable TV.

I like that one, It's My Money, and I need it now!

I miss the Ditech commercials with the Ditech guy, not their people are stupid commercials.

Another one has made my list:
Consumer Cellular

The one where a guy calls his twin

And the Airplane delyed. At the end, there are those twins as pilot and co-pilot

The one that has me SMH is the guy who, during his new hire orientation is given his ID, his key card and his Verizon phone.

Guy: "Is this the one that works worldwide?" paraphrase
HR: "Yes, but you won't need ...."

at which time he runs out and is traveling around the world (on who's money?) taking meetings in Tokyo & Paris for someone. Who are these people he's talking to? It's not work related as he runs up charges on a phone from a company he bailed on to try out a phone.

Boss:"Why is the new guy sending me e-mail from Paris?"
HR:"Paris France?"

what's cut (my made up part)

Boss:"Yea, France!"
HR:"I don't know, I just know he ran off so I hired someone else. By the way we need to turn that phone off and call the cops on him for stealing office supplies."

The little song at the end of those Chevy ads is an earworm; something like 'Youuur lo-cal friend-lyyy Chev-ro-let deal-er, got a great deeeal for yooou...' It sounds a lot like an old McDonald's jingle('It's a good time for the great taste...')

Yes, I see those Consumer Cellular ads a lot on various syndicated shows.

I channel-surf during these annoying commercials, so I don't see OR hear them! With as much as Nissan advertises, and with some sponsors running their ads TWICE during the SAME commercial break, channel-surfing is the only way to save one's sanity!
