More Audacy Cuts

Any word on how Audacy will replace Erin? She is still on the Mix website. I assume that they will pipe in someone from out of town.

Heard the ladies this morning on the Morning Magic show and too early to discuss.
I am going to say that with Audacy (and its new owner without getting political) penchant to cut and gut right now, that Magic as a locallly based DJ programming station is a goner.
I would say by the middle of Summer there is no longer any locally based DJ programming there any more. It'll be all syndicated . The Christmas music will be prerecorded AI or a DJ from a studio in the middle of nowhere and you will hear the same music on all those stations in Audacy at the same time.

Audacy has no syndicated programming in that format it could use. Anything else would cost them either money or spots. Of course they could just play music with no hosts, which is what they do at night.

I probably misspoke there. They would probably just play music with no on air DJ. However they could just get a voice to record a bunch of voiceovers and use that. The key for all these companies, as they get smaller in radio footprint, is to make their stations more seemless. So what you get in Boston is the same you get in Omaha.
I think Magic as it is is a goner. Get ready for Christmas music on Magic that is playing the same song as is on Audacy station X in NYC or Iowa City.

The company isn't actually getting smaller. It's staying the same. What's changed is how listeners use radio. The current audience has no attachment to that kind of presentation. If you don't live in both Boston and Omaha, you don't know it's the same. So it doesn't matter. It actually never did. The only reason they did local presentation was because they could sell it locally. Now, even that is a struggle.

That's basically what iHeart does every year, and it gets great ratings. Once again, if you just live in one place, you don't know what's happening in Iowa City.

True, but I will miss hearing Karen Blake and her wicked Boston accent . I think after O Leary got the ax there everybody is just waiting for the other shoe to fall

I didn't know what was going on in other cities either until, to your point, with the iHeart app, I tuned into their station in Chicago that goes to Christmas first in the nation then a few days later tuned to SRS in Worcester and they were both playing the same songs at the same time. The local DJ on the station was just cut in at every 15 minutes.
