CBS has axed two more top-level programming people from its hip-hop/Urban station KSFM: KSFM morning man and co-host of the "World Famous Morning Show" Trejo and KSFM Music Director Adam Star were fired in budget related moves late Monday morning.

Very sad. Good people. I wonder how many more of these budget cuts we're going to see in the near future. Seems anyone making a large salary or who isn't multi-tasking is at risk. Best of luck to all the CBSers. I hope the rest of you can stay under the radar.

Yeah that stinks, Trejo got cut and Adam Star did too. Adam is a good guy, I was A Friday co host in 2004 at KSFM and Adam was always nice , I hope he finds another radio job.

also Trejo, being let go stinks too, who will host KSFM new morning show, I guess tune in and find out ?

Hey , what if the bomb picked up Trejo, that would be something, they have big boy in the morning right now but to pick up Trejo that would be something.

I want the bomb to have a local morning show, does the bomb not want to pay the $$$ to a morning show , is that why they cut Davey D show too a while back ? but theat would be cool if the bomb got a new morning local show for listeners to call and interact with.

well back to CBS radio cuts . Why doesn't the guys that really stink and are not doing a good job don't ever get cut.

like my example is Frank Redd got cut from Sports 1140 earlier a few months back and Frank Redd has been a fixture on Sunday nights on sports 1140 , he was the best sports show and talked actual sports and not just Sacramento Kings and they let Frank Redd go . he should have not gone.

Maybe Jeff McCmurray should have gone , because the programming he's had on hasn't been that good. The CarMichael Dave show at night is not good, CarMichael Dave goofs around doesn't talk sports and his show is non entertaining , Carmichael Dave's show should get cut.

also on Saturday mornings there is some terrible awful show on Sports 1140 and all they do is scream out phone numbers all it is a betting show, who ever put that show on should be fired.

if I was in charge of 1140 I 'd put some sports people on, and guys that talk sports and maybe get some former athelets too on like a 49ers player or Sacramento Kigns player or someone that talks good sports and knows there sports . Also I'd put some hosts on that like talking sports to fans, listners and callers, not like Grant Nappear, all he does is yell at the callers .

Also Jim Crandell show on Saturdays , Jim Crandell all he talks about is one topic, he's too much of a topic guy, and topic radio stinks, he doesn't really talk all sports during his radio show, he talks about one thing he heard in sports durning the week and doesn't give anyone else an opportunity to talk other sports or sports news .

well for KSFM I think they messed up again. KSFM was the station that let go of Davey D and Mixxula and Latin Rascal, those guys were top guys in the market then they let them go too, that stinks

is CBS radio going down ?? or is it radio in genreal that's going down, why do the best shows and the best people in radio always get cut ?

Well that's some of my thoughts. God bless you and God bless your family and friends too from your friend Phillip from Galt .

Radio in general is going down. Only thing that would save it IMO is if the corporations unloaded their stations to more local, smaller ownership. No worries about putting the stockholders pockets above everything else, more about serving the community and having fun. No big corporate overhead, all the profits stay specific to the station(s).

I'm not holding my breath, but damn......

...and Amen...

Even the smaller owners are still corporate: Regent, Mapleton, Bi-Coastal, Results....and the problem with smaller companies is they REALLY don't have the deep pockets to pay.

Even if a "radio guy" runs a station(s)...it's more than likely that he has a financial interest in the bottom line.

And that's what it all comes down to! BIG...or small

Unfortunately, these days the bigger companies don't have the deep pockets to pay either. Hence, budget cuts and job loss. The advantages I've found in working with smaller companies were having more creative freedom, being more than just a number to upper management and having a bit more job security. The advantages with larger companies (once upon a time) - more money, more marketing and a larger network of job opportunies. Nowadays, I don't know which is better... or the lesser of the evils.

Hey there Phill!

Well I found what I was looking for here.

I specifically came here to find out what happened to Frank Redd's show, "The Dungeon".

Like yourself I was a regular caller to the "The Dungeon", coming on as "Enrique, from Walnut Creek".

I called the program one Sunday night during the summer expecting to hear Sean Cunnigham's welcoming voice saying "KHTK, who's this?", and instead it just rang and rang and rang.

It was one of my usual location calls from a concert at the Pavilion in Concord and therefore I wasn't listening to the radio.

When I tuned in the following Sunday to find out what was going on, it was Fox Sports Radio programming on, the Jorge Sedano Show.

That's when I pieced it together, no more Frank Redd, no more "Dungeon", and no more reason to listen to KHTK 1140.

Bummer!

You were a great contributor to the show Phillip, I always enjoyed our calls, and it was a pleasure to go back-to-back with you on the program.

I believe Frank put us on, one after the other intentionally, fully knowing that he would always get a good one-two punch out of us every time out.

Frank was an innovator, who played hip-hop/rap music as an undercurrent beneath the calls, as well as his monologues throughout the whole show, which was quite refreshing and novel.

He will most certainly be missed.

Since he used to give out his email address on the air, I will post it here, as I have it memorized from heart from having been a contributor to "The Dungeon" since 2000.

"...you can reach me at [email protected] and remember, if your not doin something everyday to make things better, you ain't doin' nothin' as far as I'm concerned... peace, out!"

Or something to that effect, LOL!

Frank Redd, you will be missed!

Cheers!

And...then there were three more!

The Promotions Directors at KHTK and 100.5 The Zone; along with a Promotions Assistant from Mix 96, were let go late this morning.
