KMPS Traffic (Flo) also cut.
God help you if you have any name recognition in the market and no contract...we wouldn't want radio to actually CONNECT with an audience. Bad for the shareholders.
 
So did he say in his reply that he was fired? I'm listening to KZOK right now streaming and it says he's on the air, but I haven't come up on break yet.
 
He must be gone. KZOK is on "robo-radio" this afternoon. Just liners, spots, and songs.

Curelop has fired a lot of people over the years, even going back to Tampa. He doesn't have an easy job.

He acknowledged it without directly saying so.
 
When I read this thread at work today I tuned in KZOK during Gary Crow's show, and after the top hour ID at 2pm they played Stacey Irelands show intro. I was at work and couldn't listen beyond that so don't know, but it looks like Steve was not even able to say goodbye.

It's really sad what is going on with corporate radio, Steve is a professional, and has a track record of being a professional in the industry, he would have been respectful of the company and KZOK no matter how he felt about being shafted inside. Yet not even his loyalty to the companies who've employed him is allowed over the air by these thankless ***holes. This is really makes me pissed at the garbage running radio today.
 
Steve Slaton - isn't he the Houston Texans' running back?

All in all, it sucks that the Steve Slaton of radio got the cleats from CBS.

That's a completely different level. One spot break on the CBS TV pre-game show likely equates into what KMPS rakes in on any given day.

Why cut Steve Slaton? Steve was the best KZOK had! And from the looks of this board that isn't just MY opinion. Doesn't CBS have local managers with any authority? I'm just asking...
 
Because he used to be the Program Director, before they brought Cary Curlop in. Thus, he was probably making pretty big $$$. Certainly way more than they're paying the new girl. By a bunch.
